The Common Room / Re: trouble with Ancestry
« on: Monday 25 April 05 13:12 BST (UK)  »
I always save locally, as ancestry,  I suspect,  does not track what you have downloaded long term.  You do not need to print them out just save them to a folder on your computer as you go along.  You could try e-mailing them about the ones you have already paid to view,  but knowing how bad they are at support you may not get a response.

You could also consider Family Historian, there is a demo version available.

I suspect they are very close together probably with in a couple of pages.

Unfortunately I don't have the 1850 folio on CD only 1851 on-wards for Dorset.

Could not see him on the 1851 for Dorset (SDFHS Index),  but there look to be two/three Bell Families on the same Folio

I don't recognise the program.
How ever there are a lot of programs for sale which are very poor.

If no one has any better ideas, Iwould suggest downloading Legacy free edition to put your data in.

Have you by any chance installed Norton Security Suite?

The problem is some times caused by that program.

There is some information on fixing the problem at

Microsoft document
about it.

If you have Norton products (e.g. Norton AntiVirus), you might also consider
doing a search in the Support area of the Symantec website
() for "16-bit subsystem" you will find a number of
documents referring to it.

Did you type your tree direct in Genes Reunited or do you have you tree on your PC as well?

If you typed  it in directly,  I would suggest using the Import/Export option on the main menu of the site to export the file.

Simply press the export button at the bottom of the page and you should (if you pick a quiet time for the site be able to download the file which can then be uploaded as the previous posters have suggested to RootsChat and you can also use any of a variety of PC packages to maintain your data on your PC.

In you are using IE, try this.

Use the mouse highlight the text you want to print by highlighting it.

Select Print from the file menu.
When the print prompt comes up select "Print Selection" from the Page range box.

This will print only selected text.
Note the option is only available if you have already selected some text
