The Common Room / Re: Sherlock Holmes Required

Another posibility is the child was registered late.
My maternal grandmother is in the index 18 months after her birth as she was registered when her father registered her younger sister.

Or she was born in England and then registered in Ireland, have you checked the Irish GRO.

Also a question,  how much information do you have to provide to get a 1911 census page?

If your ancestors are RC,  try contacting
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hibernia/

The lists are not on-line,  but an e-mail can be sent and details are returned,  all they ask for is a charitable donation.

I think what you want is the Descendant outline in the Miscellaneous Reports menu.   You might need to turn on all the event information if you want that on the report.

Just a note.   IE tends to make the size of the cache too large,  I think it still defaults of 5% of the disk size,  when disks were 10Mb that was fine.  Now they can be 250Gb it is very excessive,  I think a maximum of around 20Mb is big enough, above this it takes longer to search the cache than to download the data.

Technical Help / Re: erm... how do I build a proper database?
« on: Monday 04 October 04 20:01 BST (UK)  »
Amy, is your data in GEDCOM format (I realize many one name studies are not)?

If it is you may be able to use phpgedview to put the information out to the web.

You do need support for php on your web space, but do not need to use MySql or other database.

There is a sample of what phpgedview can do at
