I can't see her yet - do you know that she was definitely alive at the time of both these censuses?

I thought age at death was only recorded on the indexes from 1866 onwards?

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Darling Marriage abt 1827-28

1841 - you are absolutely correct, no place of birth is shown
The family is living in the Township of Bedlington, in the Village of Bedlington and it indicates that he is not born in this county.  There is a no for all family members except the youngest son Thomas, age 7.

Michael will correct me if I am wrong  ;D

Strange as it may seem, in 1841 Bedlington was actually a part of County Durham (although completely surrounded by Northumberland), known as 'Bedlingtonshire'. Other 'outliers' of County Durham within Northumberland at this time were 'Norhamshire'and 'Islandshire' (around Tweedmouth).

Therefore an 1841 census entry for Bedlington which says 'not born in County' means 'not born in County Durham'.

These areas were integrated into Northumberland in 1844.

In 1891 she has a 14 year old grand-daughter Eleanor A Lambert living with her, born Norwell, which ties up with the 1881, but I can't make Eleanor out of the name on the 1881. Can't make anything at all actually.
