Hi Dobfarm
Thanks for the reply
I have had communication from the Malcolm Bull site.
I also note that on another Hartley surname site - someone has lifted detail that I have on the family.
I have extensive detail on my direct line and linked families, but have always felt it difficult to progress.
I will of course take on board all your advise.
Many thanks for your informative reply.
Kindest regards Brian. ;)

Hi Dobfarm
I do have the full Ancestry World subscription.
Do you think the none conformist status would throw up any issues ?
The Ovenden and Wheatley area seem of interest and probably illingworth.
I thank you for your kind and helpful reply.
Kindest regards Brian. ;)

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: Anthony Abson b 1785 Wakefiedl- birth record

Hi
Thanks for the reply, and info on the on line tree.
I now have the detail you quote, but seem to think that he was economical with the truth regarding the 1785 birth year on the 1851 census.
Thanks so much - kindest regards Brian. ;)

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Anthony Abson b 1785 Wakefiedl- birth record
« on: Friday 31 May 13 16:09 BST (UK)  »
Anthony looks to have been born about 1785 according to the 1851 census.
I have found an entry for a Anthony Abson at odds with the census - but it looks to fit.
Name:  Anthony Abson
Mother:  Ruth Abson
Father:  Anthony Abson
Baptism:  27 Mar 1780 - Wakefield, All Saints
Vital:  27 Mar 1780 - Wakefield, All Saints, Yorkshire, England
I wonder if he did tell a bit of a fib about his age.
Any thoughts on this ?
Kindest regards Brian. ;)

Hi Maria
I have the children as
William b 1834  -Stanley
Anna Maria b 1839  -Outwood
Joseph b  1841 - Wakefield
Israel  b 1844 - Stanley
Charles b 1847 Liverpool
Alexander b 1849 Stanley
Emma b 1851 Stanley
Daniel b 1854 Stanley.
Do you think that the George men tined in the Rothwell baptism look to be right ?.
I am working on a family tree for a friend, I personally have no Relatives in Leeds or Wakefield.
My family originated from Calderdale.
Kindest regards Brian. ;)

Hi Maria
I appreciate your kind help.
Why would Sally be Sarah  on the subsequent census dates ?.
I always assumed that Sally was a nickname used for Sarah.
Do you think Sally's quoted Surname is correct, and how might I progress things regarding George Absons origins.
I must say there are quite a lot around the Wakefield area.
Although George is down as Born in Wakefield- I wonder if this is his baptism ?.
Georg Abson
Birth Date: 22 Feb 1808
Event Date:
3 Apr 1808
Event Type:
Baptism
Parish:
Rothwell, Holy Trinity
Father's Name:
Anthony Abson
Mother's Name:
Maria Abson
This could account for Anna's Second name - Maria.
Kindest regards Brian.

Hi Maria
I have amended the post, it was the George mentioned who was the shoe maker.
I know that Sally was a common nickname for Sarah hut how would the work out with the marriage you mention ?.
Do you think the abson surname for Georges wife is probably an error, or could they be related in some way.
Kindest regards Brian.
