I have only very sketchy information as this is/was a family secret.

There was never any mention of the baby surviving so I assume it died at the same time. Were/are still born babies not registered??  (apologies if this is sensitive for anyone)

I think they were in Bucklow as that's where the next marriage took place and subsequent children were born

Did you mean there would be a record of a stillbirth on the mothers death cert?

Her maiden name was Balmer.

I have tried looking for a baby Williams with mothers name Balmer and not found one on Ancestry.

I'll re check FreeBMD

Thanks for your suggestions

I have found the death of Alexander M Williams here:

1938
Age at death     37
Registration district:    Bucklow
Inferred County:    Cheshire
Volume:    8a
Page:    236

The anecdote is that she died in child birth so where would I find the birth or death of her child? Would both be recorded in 1938? Is it possible to search all of pages 235/6/7?

(I know she looks like a man but I do think she is Alexandra May as I have been unable to find any other deaths for Alexandra May Williams between her marriage in 1927 and her husbands 2nd marriage in 1939)

Thanks

JohnP- isn't  that a strange coincidence that that specific postcard from someone at Hinwick House should have been posted on Flickr just a couple of days ago!

Cathy- the name took me straight there. It shows how difficult it can be to find info even when you know its there.

Having now looked at the names on 1911 I don't think there is a connection to my family.  My best guess is that it belonged to Herbert St Vincent Addenbroke who was born in Harrogate.

Its rare to find an old photo and then be able to identify some of the strangers in it.

Thanks again

Frustratingly i dont seem to be able to get a match on FindMyPast

I''ve established the owner/teachers name is G Gruggles but I cant locate him on a name search  nor any variations on Hinwick or Podington  for an address search??

Can anyone oblige with a reference or a clue please?

I have found a photo in my parents house titled Hinwick house Wellingborough.Summer term 1912

It has 4 men and one woman seated and surrounded by 26 pre teen boys in suits/school uniform. It is taken in front of a door and Georgian style windows

I can find no reference to Hinwick house being a school or something similar altho it was used as a hospital in WW1. I have found a reference to a Hinwick Hall which was bought by the brother of the owner of Hinwick house. This building was made into a school for children with disabilities in 1942. None of this brings me closer to what was going on there in 1912 tho!

As this photo came from my parents house I would like to connect it to someone in my tree if possible and would like some clues if anyone has any further information please?
