Why are you all giving me information that I haven't asked for and have anyway??
I am only interested in finding out the parents of Thomas Callaghan who was born c1840 in Meath, Ireland. Registration there began much later than in England and Wales so I cannot obtain a birth certificate.
I have looked for Thomas' baptism but have not been able to find it.
I AM ONLY INTERESTED IN THOMAS AS I HAVE THE INFO ON MICHAEL AND HIS SIBLINGS.
I have done a little more research on the family and I have found out that Thomas Callaghan, my 3x great grandfather died in 1909 making his birth year c1840 but because registration in Ireland began later than it did in England and Wales I am unable to get a birth certificate to find out who his parents were.
The man in my file has wives with the same names that we've been talking about for some time now.
Why are you right and I'm wrong?? Dates and names can change from document to document. I thought everyone who has been researching their tree for some time understood this?
As I said I have found the answer to my question and linked this man with my family as well as many other Hartley people in my tree.
I use RootsMagic to store all my information and the programme uses Treesync for Ancestry so it syncs with my online tree.
In my file I found a James Hartley from Colne who was born c1815. I merged this man with the one I had found who was born c1817 with wives Sarah Peckover and Elizabeth Smith and found the following;
His parents were Joseph Hartley and Sarah Holmes.
Joseph's parents were James and Grace (Stansfield) Hartley who are my 5x great grandparents.
This line goes back another couple of generations to a man called Lawrence Hartley.
