Technical Help / Viewing images on family search

I use Durham BTs  and Norfolk PRs quite a lot.  Normally these require some magnification and once this has been selected it remains in place for subsequent pages.

A couple of weeks ago this stopped and each image now reverts to the original size and every page requires adjustment.  I’m getting irritated, to say the least, as it’s very time consuming.

This change seems to have coincided with an upgrade to flash player.  Could this have caused the change and, if so, is there anything I can do about it?  Alternatively, is it the site and is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Norfolk / Buried, resurrected, still living after 200+ years?
« on: Wednesday 24 August 11 18:09 BST (UK)  »
When I first started researching my Norfolk branch there was very little online and I spent months with microfilmed PRs at my nearest LDS centre.  I had:

William Jenkerson/Jinkerson baptised Gt. Yarmouth 1779, married there in 1803 and then after a string of children I buried him in January 1837 aged 64.  The age was a little out but it often is.

Years later when the census records came online I gradually went through all my research checking out the data I already had.  I found William, alive and well, living with his wife and a married daughter in Gt. Yarmouth in 1841.  He’s still there in 1851, a widower, aged 75, living with the same daughter.

By 1861 he is gone - or I haven’t been able to find him.  I also haven’t been able to find a death record for him between 1851 and 1861 or a burial.

I’ve obviously missed something somewhere.  Anyone have any bright ideas?

Dublin / Information on Catholic marriage records 1855
« on: Monday 06 June 11 19:33 BST (UK)  »
The irishgenealogy website has a marriage transcription for 1855 from the church of St. Michael and St. John, Dublin.

It states ' further details in the record'

Can anyone tell me what details are likely to be available please?

An 1832 burial in Christ Church, Tynemouth states that the man died at Hawkies Hall.

I can't find any reference to this place.  Any ideas, anyone?

World War Two / 12th battalion The Kings Regiment (Liverpool)
« on: Monday 22 November 10 21:58 GMT (UK)  »
This is a bit of a long shot but perhaps ……

On 28th January 1941 a 22 year old corporal with this battalion was killed ‘as a result of enemy action’.

He was stationed along the north east coast - his letters refer to ‘freezing in a concrete blockhouse’ and ‘staring at the bleak North Sea waiting for invaders’.  The postal address for the battalion was c/o Ashington Post Office, Northumberland.

His death is registered in Northumberland Central (right area for Ashington and surrounds) and CWGC has him buried in Manchester which is where he came from.

What is missing, to make the picture complete, is the nature of the enemy action.  Search as I might I can find no reports which fit nor do I know exactly where he was along that area of coastline.

Any ideas?
