Hi, I'm trying to help someone via the pm system on Rootschat and I'm struggling.

Known info so far.

Frances Downie born 2.4.1897 Liverpool. Found on 1901/11/21 UK census.

She is writing letters from 1935 onwards from that address. In 1939 war register at that address is a Frances Smith with the same dob plus 2 redacted entries beneath-possible 2 Smith/Downie children born 1928 and 1929.

Can anyone help with electoral registers around 1934-38 at that address

Many thanks

Over the last few months many posts have been posted on Rootschat. Many of us have contributed to these posts with some wonderful results. However, on quite a few occasions it is suggested for the poster to obtain a BMD certificate so "brick walls" can at least be partly broken down. Again in the last few months I have read posts where this was done and results have been really really beneficial, from change of names at birth etc etc. Suppose what I'm saying is no substitute for "real evidence". Have a good day all.

The attached link is an ongoing rootchat post. My question here is with regard to the Findagrave link also attached. This gentleman I believe born 1945 mmn Ibbotson. However there is no GRO record for this death. Could he have died abroad and a headstone placed in memory of him in the UK.

Scotland / searching 1911/21 census on Scotlands people
« on: Wednesday 08 February 23 17:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, quick question please. Is it possible to search either of these census with a known reference to establish all the occupants of the household, ie 1911 ref 564/2  17/8 Greenock West and 1921 ref 564/2  27 12 Greenock West

Like a lot of RC's I recently spent some time looking to help someone with a post. Whilst I could not directly answer their query I went on to explore one of the children born to the couple. This child appears in 2 census after their birth and then goes awol. I spent some time looking for this person and found a complete history of tangled relationships, with births of further children and name changes. Lots of trees are on Anc* detailing this child but none know anything about her after the last census.

Should I add to the post in question so other's may be informed or leave well alone.
