Tipperary / Catherine English b 1888ish No birth record Cahir
« on: Saturday 22 May 21 16:56 BST (UK)  »
Hello
I am trying to find my great Aunt birth record, I have seached the IRE site and cannot locate it anywhere.
Speaking to a distant cousin, a grandson of the above, he stated that she was born to some Lord.

Her name was Catherine English, her mother was Bridget Morrissy and they lived in Mountain Road Clogheen Cahir.

She is on the 1901 census with her mother and siblings and moved to wales by 1911.

Her mother was born 1866 and her father, Edmond English was b 1865, he was in and out of jail at least 11 times.

Is there anywhere I can search for her birth record, I have tried the surname English and also Morrissy as she was born before her parents married in 1890.

Thank you

Tipperary / Prison Record CastleJohn
« on: Friday 17 April 20 17:20 BST (UK)  »
This is a bit of a odd query.
I have been looking on ancestry and typed in Matthew Murphy/O'Neill he was born Murphy as it was 1 year after my ggrandfather died but father was Edmond O'Neill.
Anyway, I found a record of a Matthew O'Neill b 1900. his birth only 2 years out, but that is nothing new, in a prison register for a hold up while armed, This was in 1924 the fathers name was Edmond O'Neill both living in Castle John where my family are from.
What are the chances of this being the same as in my family. Matthew would be a half brother to my grandfather, What are the chances that there could have been another family with those names living in the same place,
I have also found a Marraige record for him In Callan to a Margaret Burke in 1939 and at the time Matthew and his father were living in 9 Mile House Castlejohn

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / census lookup
« on: Tuesday 11 July 06 15:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Could someone look up the census records to see if there is a David Gregory in or around Bristol.

His son moved to Glam sometime before 1827 and his first born son was David Gregory, so I am assuming he was named after his father.

I don't have anything to go on accept it states in the 1851 census that John Gregory was born in Bristol. Possibly his family stayed there when he moved, John was born c 1806-1811 acording to the different census records.

Thanks
Julie

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / John and Phillips Morriston
« on: Wednesday 03 August 05 16:13 BST (UK)  »
Hi.
I am totally stuck. I have traced my JOHN family back to 1843, and my Phillips back to the same date, but I am unable to go back further.
I applied to the Swansea Office for the birth cert for William JOHN, son of Thomas JOHN and Mary ? according to the census records he was born in Morriston in 1843 but his marriage cert states he was 20yrs in 1866.
Swansea could not find a cert for a William with a father named Thomas (c 1808) Mary, his mother was born in Merthyr (c1809)

I also applied for his youngest brothers birth cert a John JOHN b 1849 hoping they would have that, but no luck.

I also applied for Williams's wife's birth cert: Mary Phillips daughter of William Phillips, born in Morriston 1843 according to the census and marriage cert, but again Swansea could not find any matching records.

I have tried looking at the chapel records in Swansea but cannot find any there.
Does anyone have any ideas where I could go from here.

Thanks
Julie
