I have previously posted under "Gurnell long shot"  and received a lot of help from ShaunJ  I have one further question.
How would I find out the date that my relatives departed the UK for South Africa originally or if they ever permanently returned?

Thanks    Steve

South Africa / Gurnell long shot
« on: Thursday 22 December 11 11:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I have a post card/photo from some cousins in South Africa date 1967 so its quite old. They are called Alan ( Mac)  and Ella almost certainly Gurnell I do not know if they married in the UK or SA but I can find no marriage  for them in the UK.
They were both born around 1910 /25 in the UK and moved to SA, he was involved in the mining of gold. there is an address on the card which I do not understand so maybe someone can help.

I know this is a very long shot with little info but I am at a very large brick wall in the UK so I thought I would try working backwards. I have attached the photo on the front of the card and also the top of the back of the card.
Any help would be much appreciated

« on: Saturday 17 December 11 13:33 GMT (UK)  »
I have several photo's of a band marching in a city centre The city I think should be in Yorkshire. The other possibility is Lincolnshire but doubtful ( It look too grimy).
Can anyone offer a suggestion as to where it is. I have attached 3 of the photo's, the ones with the most detail and will post the rest if required.

Herefordshire / Ross Cottage Hospital
« on: Monday 28 November 11 14:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Does anyone have any information about the Ross Cottage Hospital. I have a Jane Eunice Willson b 1877 Lambeth London  who is shown as "being " there on the 1901 census as a Nurse and then on the 1911 census as a Nurse Matron.

Does anyone know if any records exist of the people that worked there and when. The hospital opened I think in the 1870's and closed in the late 1940's

Thanks Steve

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Which is Aunt Carrie? COMPLETED THANKS
« on: Saturday 26 November 11 12:06 GMT (UK)  »
I have a relative known as "Aunt Carrie from London" I have two contenders and the only way that I can see to decide which she is, is to date the photo and decide the age of the lady in them.

The two contenders are

Caroline Jane Willson nee Ellis b abt Mar 1845 in Farnham Surrey and lived in London from about 1875.

and her daughter

Maria Carrie Willson b 1874 in Leeds but lived in London at the same time as her mother.

If anyone can date fairly accurately the photos and put an age to the lady in them that would help me decide who deserves the title Aunt Carrie.

Thanks
