Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / East Drayton P/R's
« on: Friday 30 September 11 17:47 BST (UK)  »
I am researching the Gurnell family they appear to have moved from Nottinghamshire to Stallingborough Lincolnshire. I have traced William and Barbara Gurnell to the place of their marriage which is East Drayton Notts.
They married 2 Dec 1762 at East Drayton. I am trying to find out more about their marriage and also if they had any children between 1762 and the birth of their first known child in 1767. I also have a Thomas and an Elizabeth unaccounted for. Does anyone know where the parish records are? Any help would be appreciated

   Thanks Steve

Lincolnshire Completed Look up Requests / William Gurnell COMPLETED THANKS
« on: Saturday 24 September 11 10:25 BST (UK)  »
I am searching for more information on my 5X GGrandfather William Gurnell b abt 1739 and married a Barbara she died in Stallingborough in 1819 as I have a photo of her grave in Stallingborough Church and she is described as the "relict" of William, so he must have died before her. They had 10 children Mary, John, Sarah, William, Ann, Richard, Susannah, Thomas, Susannah and George. All born between 1768 and 1787 in Stallingborough.
I believe the son William had the Dairy House farm in Burstby near Holderness in around 1800 but this is yet to be proved.

What I hope is that someone can help with is more info on where they lived i.e which farm and where William died. any info on this family would be appreciated.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Who is he?
« on: Tuesday 13 September 11 15:05 BST (UK)  »
I have recently found this picture amongst some others as yet unidentified. This one I believe to be Joseph Tertius Talbot Cliff of the Iron foundry owners in Froddingham in Lincolnshire. Which went on to be Appleby Froddingham iron and steel works near Scunthorpe.
The picture I think is of the founder Joseph Cliff's grandson Joseph Tertius Talbot Cliff. he was born 1874 and died 1953 at Hatfield. I wonder if anyone out there has any means of identifying this picture.
any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

London and Middlesex / Hugeunot ancestor??
« on: Wednesday 03 August 11 16:32 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help or offer a suggestion, I have a 5 times G Grandfather who lived in London His name was Richard Hannam b abt 1740 and he married an Elizabeth  ??? in about 1757 as their first child was born in 1758. They had 7 children in all. they were all christened in St James Westminster.

One of these children had the second christian name "DELME" which suggests that it may be the mothers maiden name or similar. I am wondering if this could be a French Huguenot name but I do not know how to find out. Help please. The child's full name was John Delme Hannam b late 1764 and baptised 27 Jan 1765

  Thanks in advance
