Hi

Would anyone be able to find full details of this marriage please?

1783  GROOMBRIDGE  Jn  to HARRIS  Sophia  at St George Hanover  Square

Their first child was baptised in Richmond Surrey 31 Aug 1783 if this is the right marriage.

Thank you

Jan ;)

Hi

These two baptisms give the father's occupation but  ??? maker but what did he make and was it the same in both cases? Also Susana's baptism states where they were living  ??? Lane Holbourn - anyone work out the name of the lane?

Hi

I have the following information

Edward GROOMBRIDGE a carpenter

Baptised Richmond, Surrey 10 may 1767 parents John Groombridge and Mary (nee Aldcroft)

Convicted of Petit Larceny with Sarah Evans in Middlesex February 1798 sentenced to Transportation of 7yrs, delivered on board "The Lion" 14th Feb 1799
Pardoned to serve in the Navy Dec 1803

Just wondering if there is anything more to be gleaned about him from convict databases please?

Also as I haven't found a definite burial/death for him am wondering if he may have returned to Australia after serving in the navy.

Thanks in anticipation

Hi

Edith Mary HOCKIN born Countess Weir, Topsham, Devon c1870 married William George GRIFFIN on 25th Oct 1913 in Cobalt, Ontario but she is still in Devon for the 1911 census taken 2 April 1911 - can anyone see her arriving in Canada between these dates please? I haven't yet managed to find her leaving the UK.

I have William and Edith arriving  Liverpool from Quebec Nov 1913 and I think leaving  the UK in June1914.

Many thanks

Derbyshire / Fresh pair of eyes needed please
« on: Thursday 18 June 09 11:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am trying to sort out siblings for my gg grandfather William ALLSOP. I am lucky that the family resided in Wirksworth and so I have access to the transcribed parish records on John Palmer's wonderful site. However I am having problems and would welcome a fresh pair of eyes. All events occurred in Wirksworth.

Here goes

Wandale ALLSOPP married Ann PEARSON on April 21st 1794

First known child is Ellen born 12th Jul 1795
Next are twins
William (my gg grandfather) and John born 13th May 1797
Ellen, William and John were baptised 13 Sep 1797
Then
Hannah born 17 Jun 1799 baptised 10 Jul 1799

No more baptisms that I can see

This where the confusion starts

There is a burial for a John ALLSOPP on May 24 1807 son of Wondale and Hannah - now I know Hannah and Ann can be interchangeable but there is  Wandell and Hannah (BUXTON nee TAYLOR), having children overlapping with Wandell and Ann, who had a John born Jan 24 1790. So which one dies?

Then what happens to Ellen? No marriage or burial found

There is more , the picture in 1841 is

Greenhill, Wirksworth
Wandall Allsop 75 Miner
Ann do 70
William do 40 Velvet Weaver
Hannah do 40
Mary do 30

William didn't marry till 1842 in Duffield and states he is a bachelor.

Hannah would appear to be the one born 1799 (no obvious marriage or burial)- she appears in 1851/61 with Mary, they are listed as unmarried sisters.
So it would look like Mary is an unbaptised child of Wandell and Ann born c1805. However I found this

Mary dau Wondale/Ann buried Jun 5 1819 age 11!

At this point my head exploded :o ;D

Bedfordshire Completed Look ups / COMPLETED RANDALL/SIMONS baptism Wrestlingworth
« on: Wednesday 27 May 09 10:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Would someone be able to check this baptism for me please? It is on the IGI as extracted but also says it was generated from other information found in the index - which appears to be a submitted entry ???

Elizabeth RANDALL or SIMONS baptised 10 FEB 1723   in Wrestlingworth
parents Thomas RANDALL and Ann SIMONS

I have an Elizabeth RANDALL marrying Thomas HANDLY in Wrestlingworth 27 Nov 1749 - their first child seems to be Ann baptised 1753 so the above baptism looks a good bet if true!

Thanks

Hi

I wonder if anyone would be able to check the following marriage for any further info please?

Thomas HANDLEY to Elizabeth ASPLIN  on  27 OCT 1718   at   Willingham by St Ives

I am trying to establish whether this couple could possibly be the same Thomas and Elizabeth who baptised a son Thomas in Wrestlingworth, Beds on 11 JUN 1722. There are no Handley baptisms in Willingham showing on the IGI.

Thank you

Jan ;)
