Travelling People / Hannibal Swailes & Hannah Hall
« on: Tuesday 07 November 17 16:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All

Hannibal & Hannah Swailes nee Hall are my 6xGtGrandparents. I have their marriage at Gainford Parish Church 17/8/1774 also details of 5 children Jane, Francis, Elizabeth, Thomas & Alice between 1779-1790.
I believe Hannibal was born c1750 & Hannah c1747 but, to date, I haven't been able to find a  baptism for either - doesn't surprise me for this family! I know there are many researching this and linked families and wonder if anyone has been able to find either baptism or any more of their children
Best wishes
Judith

Durham Lookup Requests / Ryton PR to 1735
« on: Sunday 12 March 17 15:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Re-thinking my Blackburn/Newton family I wonder if there is anyone who has access to Ryton, Holy Cross PRs would be able to list all the Blackburn (Blagbourne or similar) from the earliest record, whether it be baptism, marriage or burial, through to 1735. Maybe if I have all the names and dates I can piece together what I have already found.

I am also interested in Newton but will save that request for another time.

Thank you to anyone who can help me with this mammoth task
Judith  :) :)

« on: Sunday 05 March 17 16:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Luke Blackburn (Blagbourne) father William of earlier request married Margaret Newton 30/9/1701 Holy Cross, Ryton.  Their children are Catherine, John, William, Mary, Anne, Luke & Thomas. I believe Margaret's Dad is John.

My request is for a marriage for John (Margaret's Dad) also confirmation of Margaret's birth as there are 3 in familysearch 1673 1674 + 1681
thanks
Judith

Hi

Luke Blackburn(Blagbourne) bapt. Holy Cross, Ryton 26/10/1672 Dad William b c1645[/b] - I have been told that Mum could be Isabel b 1650 but no other details. I can't find a marriage for William.
I have found 8 children for William (none show mother) 1672-1693 Luke, John, William, Thomas, James, Charles, Joseph + Catherine, William's death in 1714 also a death for Isobel in 1706 both buried at Holy Cross, Ryton

My look up request is for a marriage for William to Isobel prior to 1675 or any other that may be relevant
thank you

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Belford MIs
« on: Monday 14 November 16 12:13 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Having just seen an earlier posting re Belford MIs I wonder if there are any for either Holmes or Nichol between 1750 - 1850; I think it unlikely as the Holmes trade was a hind or similar (maybe farmer) but you never know!

thank you

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Bywell PRs prior to 1762
« on: Monday 14 November 16 11:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am trying to find the birth/baptism of my 5xGtGrandparents Robert Anderson + Elizabeth Johnson. They married 20/5/1776 Bywell St Andrew.

Children:- Ann Nov 1776,  Robert Nov 1778,  Thomas May 1781, Frances Apr 1784, Elizabeth Feb 1786, William Aug 1788 + Richard Oct 1790. Elizabeth died Nov 1790 in Bearl. Robert died 1848 aged 99 (per death cert).
I have found a baptism for Elizabeth in 1759 but the parents John+ Mary don't appear in the list of their children.

Does anyone have access to Bywell St Andrew parish records for the period prior to 1762 (familysearch) also Corbridge + Ovingham to see if there is a baptism for either Robert or Elizabeth between 1750-1762.

Thank you
Judith

Durham / Turner Family
« on: Tuesday 25 October 16 19:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

I am trying to find the parents of George Turner - he married Isabella Lidster in St Pauls, Jarrow in 1815 so presume he was born 1780-1790. He was a gardener so this could also have been the trade of his father. I have only been able to find 1 child Mary born 1816 in S.Shields.
I have found 1 possible set of parents John + Jane nee Stafford married 22/4/1780 in Jarrow and also baptisms for their children all at St Hilda S.Shields George June 1785, Deborah Jan 1788, William April 1792, Stafford June 1797 but none show John's trade.

Does anyone have any idea where I may find John's trade or whether there any other possible parents - as far as I'm aware George was born in S.Shields

Thank you
Judith

Durham / Mary Wilkinson c1795
« on: Monday 26 September 16 22:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I'm looking for a birth/baptism for Mary Wilkinson. Until recently I thought she was the daughter of John + Jane nee Shacklock but then found his will from 1815 in which his daughter was referred to as Mary Ann Wilkinson, spinster. My Mary married Huddleston Taylor, Aug 1811, in Bishopwearmouth - they had at least 5 children Jane, Susannah, George, Mary + Ann. Huddleston's parents were George + Susannah. My presumption is that Mary's Mum was called Jane but have no clue to her Dad. As Huddleston was a shipwright I wonder if this could also apply to Mary's father.

In Monkwearmouth there is a burial of Jane daughter of George + Jane Wilkinson in 1795 - he was a seaman from Shore so wonder if they had a daughter Mary born c 1795 (Mary died Feb1848 aged 53)

Unfortunately the Bishopwearmouth BTs are not on familysearch. The record I found re the wrong Mary was found initially on durhamrecordsonline and then a copy obtained from familysearch when you could request copies (a very valuable and much missed service).

Does anyone have access to BTs for Bishopwearmouth to see if there is a baptism for Mary, possibly to George/Jane, or have any other suggestions

Thank you
Judith

Hi All

I am hoping that my 3xGtGrandafther Joseph Mitchell was baptised here. The 1871c shows he came from Barwick on Tees (of course that doesn't necessarily mean anything!!). To either assist me in knocking down this particular brick wall or eliminating this option would someone be able to do a look-up:-
Joseph Mitchell born c1798 (married Elizabeth May 1824 in Kirkby cum Broughton). His eldest children are William bapt. Oct 1824, Mary bapt. Mar 1827, Eliza bapt. Aug 1829, Elizabeth bapt. Feb 1833, Henry bapt. Dec 1834 + John bapt. Mar 1835. Elizabeth's parents are William & Mary.
Joseph has been shown as Husbandman, Hind and Farm labourer. Any Mitchell's baptised between 1780 - 1805 would be wonderful if this is not too much to ask.
thank you
Judith
