I had also googled about windows 10 compatibility but couldn't really see any advice more recent than 2015 but I'm not a Tech Brill either so I may have missed something.

Got overtaken by family events today so my plan to assemble a collage for my friend went by the board!!

Went and looked at Gimp, Carol, late last night but thought I wouldn't be able to get the hang of it soon enough, and then trawled quickly thru the online options  (linked by Hallmark) which also looked good but unfortunately I just didn't have time to explore all those on offer.

Have given my friend a card for the occasion tomorrow and I've decided that I'll allow myself a bit more time this week to explore the Collage options and hopefully produce a collage as a surprise for her at a later date.

Hi Falkryn,  thanks for your reply.

After I posted my request last evening, I googled 'aol mails missing' and I saw that there were a few web entries from people who were having some problems with aol mail and it looks as though there has been (or still is) a problem with AoL.

I also noticed that my AoL mail page layout was different in small ways.

I fiddled around and although it showed that I still had 236 new mails, I could only view about twenty. I then noticed on the right hand side of the aol screen that it said 1 of 9 and realised it meant 1 of 9 pages of new emails-  tried each numbered page and was able to view all my new mails.
Same with old mails (of which I had 5000 going back to sept 2011 -( when I got a new PC).

So instead of just scrolling down emails lists as before, it's now a matter of working down through the numbered pages  so I think there must be something  going on with AoL.
I just wish they'd warn their aol mail account holders of possible ongoing problems and save us the stress  of thinking we've lost precious info.

However, thank goodness I now can access old/new Emails again and I hope it stays that way.

After the panic when I thought I'd lost all my old mails, I've now got to find a way, if there is one, of saving all the old mails to a folder in my PC but I don't seem to have a 'Save to PC' folder so that's another puzzle.

Thanks very much to you both for your help.

I did as suggested and reversed the original procedure - I didn't think I was going to be able to get it right at first because I couldn't seem to find the font window/menu in the label window but after a right click with mouse it appeared and I changed the font setting back to 12 as the default etc and it seems to have worked.

I've copied and printed a letter off which looks as it should with revised setting, so fingers crossed that all is ok now.

Laptop Failure after Windows 10 Creator upgrade.

Hi, I would be very grateful for any help/advice with the following problem I now have, thanks to the latest upgrade of Windows 10.
I have a Windows 7 HP Laptop, bought in 2011 and upgraded last year to Windows 10.
Had teething problems with Windows 10 upgrade but since then has been o.k and  updated to Windows 10 1607.
All was fine until Windows 10 Creator installed a few days ago, now Laptop is useless.
Laptop couldn’t start up and I got the following.

 Message1.
“ SMART HARD DISK ERROR.
The Smart Hard Disk check has detected an imminent failure. To ensure no Data is lost, please backup the content immediately and run the Hard DiskTest in Systems Diagnostic.
Hard Disk 1 (301)
F2 Systems Diagnostics
Enter.Continue start up”.
Ran the above test as suggested and got

Message 2.
“Preparing Automatic Repair”
Message3 :
“Your PC couldn’t start properly. An unexpected  1/0 has occurred  ‘Error Code 0xc0000e9’
Press Enter & try again”
Did that and got a blank screen
 Message 4:
“RECOVERY.  Your PC needs to be repaired. File\Windows\System32\Config\System.
Error Code 0xc000014c.
You’ll need to use Recovery Tools.If you don’t have any installation media (disk or USB Device) contact your PC administrator or Device Manufacturer.

When I bought the Laptop with Windows 7 on it, I made up Back up Recovery Disks (5) following
HP instructions.
I have very little technical abilityand I just don’t know where to start with trying to fix the Laptop –
Do the whole 5 backup Disks have to be used or is there a recovery section contained in the start of the Backup Disk for Recovering the System or does it all have to be installed.
Also, as the original system was Windows 7, will that system be installed again.
Sorry if this sounds a bit dim but I’ve never had to tackle this sort of problem and I do struggle with the tech side of things.

 Can anyone give me some help/advice please?
