Hello there,

Is it possible to be able to find who was living at this address in 1938?

Heathercote, The Droveway, St. Margarets Bay, Dover

I have the found a record of Peter G Wilson and Mary E Wilson on an incoming passenger list from Brisbane and hope to be able to verify if they are my family.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Australia / Peter Graham WILSON
« on: Thursday 11 August 11 13:44 BST (UK)  »
Hello there,

I require some help by Rootschatters who know their way around Austrailian records.

I have for some time been trying to find out what happened to Peter Graham Wilson born 1909 to Bertram Wilson and Ethel Mary (nee Lord).  His father died in 1920 in Finchley, London and I should love to know what happened to his wife Ethel Mary and his son Peter Graham Wilson. I cannot find a death entry in the GRO death index.

Today, I found a record of incoming passenger list on ancestry, from Brisbane to London (Tilbury) on 2 Sep 1938 for Peter G Wilson age 29 (1909) and Ethel M Wilson age 65 (1873) it gives their country of future intended residence as Austrailia.  I can't find any record of either leaving the UK.

Can anyone help, this seems too much of a coincidence not to be them.  I'd love to know what became of them.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Channel Islands Lookup Requests / Mary Hales died Guernsey
« on: Tuesday 12 July 11 11:54 BST (UK)  »
Hello there,

Could anyone help or at least point me in the right direction?  I am looking for the death of Mary Hales, she was born in West Somerton, Norfolk in 1811 and was the sister of the "Norfolk Giant", she herself measured 7ft 2" and toured fairgrounds and shows alongside her brother as curiosities.  She is proported to have died of pneumonia at a "young age" on Guernsey.  I'm trying to verify this story.

Any help greatly appreciated.

All the best

US Lookup Requests / William Huntington and Edith Clara Wells
« on: Thursday 20 January 11 21:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hello there,

I wonder if anyone might be able to help, I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to go about it!

I have Edith Clara Wilson in my tree who married William Huntington Wells in 1908 in Islington, London.  According to the 1911 census his place of birth was US America (1867), she was born in Hanley, Staffs (1877).

As I can find no record after 1911 and no death record for either, I am working on the idea that they went back to his home, America.  I don't know how to go about proving this, help would be immensley appreciated.

All the best,
Sue

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Daniel Robinson marriage
« on: Wednesday 01 April 09 00:33 BST (UK)  »
Hello there,

I have had no luck in tracking down the marriage of Daniel Robinson (b. abt. 1799 Nottingham) and Martha Elizabeth ? (born abt. 1809 St. Lukes, London). Their first child Emma Amelia Robinson was born abt. 1835, St. Marys, Nottingham.

I can't find anything on LDS,  I am presuming they were married in Notts.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Sue

Staffordshire / Hanley, Staffs - Local knowledge sought
« on: Sunday 22 February 09 10:16 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,

I'm trying to trace a member of my family who disappeared from all records after 1891, I now think he may have served in the 2nd Royal Fusiliers, his name was Frederick Wilson and he was born in Hanley, Stoke upon Trent c.1868. As I cannot find him listed after this date I am toying with the idea he might have served and died in the Boer War.

Does anyone know if there is a memorial anywhere in Hanley to commemorated those who fell in the Boer War?

I would be most grateful if anyone is able to point me in the right direction.

All the best
Sue    :)

Armed Forces / Frederick Wilson
« on: Sunday 22 February 09 09:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hello everyone,

I think I have found one of my elusive missing rellies - Frederick Wilson on the 1891 Census, he is in Aldershot, Hampshire -

Frederick Wilson   Soldier  age 21  Single  Lce Cnl 2 R. Fusiliers   born Stoke on Trent, Staffs.

There is no trace of him on any of the next census records. Could anybody suggest how I might discover more about Frederick or his fate?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sue    :)
