I too have an ancestor who drowned, this time in the River Avon at Bath. His name was James Corbitt, who went missing on the Wednesday, but was found on the Sat 4 days later. His inquest was held on the same day the body was found, which was April 1840, but the death was not registered until September 1840 - coroner? = one Robert Uphill!!

I wonder if he was very lax in his registering of deaths? this was 5 MONTHS after the body had been found!!

Just thought Mr Uphill might have been rather careless in his paperwork??

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / Re: DERHAM in North Curry

Hi!

I am doing research for a friend, who's family was FOSTER from North Curry, and I have found one of them GEORGE FOSTER (b.1873) living with Frederick CADDY and his wife ANNE, along with Frederick's brothers in law HENRY DURHAM (b.1872) and GEORGE DURHAM (b.1878), and sister in law RUTH  DURHAM (b. 1881) all of NORTH CURRY. Are these DURHAM's related to you in any way, and do you know of any connection between the DERHAM/DURHAM family and the FOSTERS back in NORTH CURRY?

My friend seems to believe they were cousins at some time in the past?

Kindest regards

Cilla Thomas

Hello Dorcus,

I had a look at my tree, and at present I don't seem to have him on it.!

However, I will keep you in mind should he crop up on my tree!

Regards,

Cilla Thomas

Hi Wendy,

I only joined today so have come in rather late to your query regarding Symington, Wilts. I thought you might like to know there is a Semington, between Trowbridge and Melksham, in Wiltshire. This could be the place you are looking for!

Good Luck!
