Fife / NEWBIE Pre-1855 birth Look-up please - FRASER in Fife or Perthshire
« on: Saturday 01 November 08 11:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, is there a kind person out there who can assist a complete novice?  I am not able to locate a birth record on ScotlandsPeople site for my G.G.Grandfa JAMES FRASER.  The best source I have for his Scottish birthplace is 1861 England Census - birth location: Fifeshire (the writing is hard to decipher!)  He was born abt 1821.  His father was also called James Fraser, occupation: Blacksmith (source: marriage cert 1856 parish Melford, Suffolk).  Have no idea when James Jnr left Scotland to live in England.  Can someone please do a look-up ... thank you so much.

Liz
