Family History Beginners Board / Help!!

Hi All,
I'm looking for information on the parents of Violet May Houghton.Violet was born 1928 possibly in or around  the village of earlswood(i've no idea what county earlswood is in. it's in the green belt south of birmingham). I'm not sure if she took the fathers or mothers surname as i dont think they were married. Her mother was Anne Field(i think). This is very sketchy info so i do apologise but i have no living relatives to confirm any of this. Any help, suggestions or advice will be appreciated. Thanks

Family History Beginners Board / Scottish coal pit accident
« on: Saturday 08 November 08 19:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
I'm looking for information on the death of a James Peggie. He died 25 jun 1852 due to an accident at west wemyss victoria pit. He was an engineman who lived in wemyss with his wife jane Russel. He was born c1821 in wemyss. I'm finding it difficult to find information on scottish deaths before 1855, but i'm intrigued to know how exactly james Peggie died, and if he died in a hospital or at the pit.
Thanks
