Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Birth Thomas Clarke Bradford

Thanks. on looking closer I don't think the signatures are the same. I think it unlikely that it is the same Clarke as mine, however, can never be sure.

It states on his marriage certificate he was a bachelor, unless telling fibs!! ::) ::)

thank you again.

Hi, thanks for your message.

I am no hand writing expert, however, I took a look at my grandfathers signature on one of his daughters birth certificate. It looks very similar, in particular the way the letter C in Clarke but as I say i'm no expert.
I seem to recall my late mother saying her father had served in WW1 and sustained a head wound the accuracy of that I can't confirm.

thanks
Tommy

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Birth Thomas Clarke Bradford

Hi,
after a number of years trying to find out where my maternal grand father Thomas Clarke was born, I have with the help of others, found he states he was born in Bradford Yorkshire.
That information was found on the 1921 Census of Scotlands People.

My grandfather was born c1892. He married my gran in Glasgow 1918. Died in Greenock 1979.

Clearly came to Scotland prior to 1918, however, I have no idea when and I can't find him on the 1911 Scottish Census.

On their marriage Certificate it states he was a bachelor, living and working in Greenock and that his parents were William Clarke (Occupation Milk Salesman) and Elizabeth Beaumont. Both his parents noted as deceased.

I have copies of my grandparents Marriage certs and my grandfathers death cert, however, would like to find his birth certificate, can one of you good people give me some advice/help?

thanks in anticipation

Hi Carol, Monica solved this.  My grand father Thomas Clarke was born in Bradford Yorkshire. On the 1921 census SP he is noted as aged 29 (I knew my gran was a wee bit older) so the year of birth I had for him was incorrect.

thanks again for your help  :)

Not sure if he had siblings, he never mentioned any.

Thank you Margow, I'm pretty sure my grand father and I don't know if he had a middle name was born 1890, however, it does seem a coincidence that Clarkes mother maiden name was Beaumont.

Hi Carole, thanks for your reply. I have my maternal grandparents marriage certificate from SP, they married in Glasgow 1918. Yes my gran was Helen Duncan Hamilton.

On their marriage Certificate my grandfathers parents are William Clarke (Occupation Milk Salesman).deceased and Elizabeth/Elisabeth Beaumont. deceased.
My grandfather died in 1979 in Gourock Renfrewshire aged 89. I knew him well although never thought to ask where he was born, he seemed to me to have an English Accent.

I have tried the English records before with no luck, as you say a lot of Thomas Clarkes born 1890.

kind regards
Tommy

Hi, I have tried to find out where my grandfather was born (which country of the UK). All his children are deceased and they never knew where their dad was born.

I was hoping the release of the 1921 Census on SP might show the country of his birth, however, all searches are showing no results?
wonder if any of you good people can help/advise me on where to go with this.

My grandfathers name was Thomas Clarke born 1890, not thought to be in Scotland.
He married my gran 1918 in Glasgow. My gran was born in Greenock.

I found  grand dad Thomas Clarke on the 1921 valuation roll living in Adelaide St. Gourock, his occupation giver as Torpedo Factory worker.
 Any help would be appreciated.
thanks in anticipation Thomas Clarke Owen
