I have just received a death certificate for my Great x 2 grandmother Winifred Price dated of death 23 December 1904.

Cause of death is heart disease due to natural causes however the informant on the certificate was the Manchester Coroner Ernest A Gibson which indicates she must have undergone a post mortem...is that correct??

Also her occupation is shown as Wife of John Price ( my great x 2 grandfather) Does this mean he must have been still alive at the time of Winifred`s death??

I cant find either of them in 1901 census still!

Just to update a previous post.

I took part in the dig today at the site off Stretford Road / Bonsall Street in Hulme today.

The old site of HOLY TRINITY Church is being excavated before Manchester Metro Uni build on the site.

Ive attached a couple of photos showing DALE STREET and VINE STREET with the still perfect cobbled street exposed for the first time in 50 odd years.

Can anyone explain what following abbreviations mean please re my wife`s grandfather who died on The Avenger in WW2;

PARKES, James T, Air Mechanic (O) 1c, FAA/FX 86475, MPK

My wife`s grandfather James Thomas Parkes was in the Navy and served on The Avenger when it was sunk on 15th Nov 1942.
We are trying to find a photo of him as none exist and my wife`s mum has never seen a photo of her Dad
( James Thomas Parkes) ....any suggestions how we may be able to find a photo??

I am researching a John Price born around 1883 Hulme Manchester, son of John Price.

I think i`ve found him on the 1901 census at Verne Citadel Portland aged 18 serving in the Army.

Can anyone advise me how to discover further information about this John Price in Portland i.e father`s name etc.

Id like to confirm he is the man I'm looking for.
