Australia / Edna Dianne Cousins/Ayliffe and Elsie Cousins
« on: Sunday 23 October 22 07:43 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find info on Edna Cousins whom I think was born in Yorkshire about 1915 and migrated with her mother Mrs Elizabeth Cousins and siblings Elsie, Elizabeth and William Henry Jnr.  They were not accompanied by a husband/father.  I found them on the Outward Bound Passenger List March 1925.
I am particularly interested in both Edna and her sister Elsie.  They lived in South Australia, around the Port Pirie area.  I think Edna married Leo Ayliffe c. 1937 and she was possibly killed in a vehicle accident near Pt. Pirie in 1967. I don't lnow if they had family.
Elsie possibly married William Alfred Martin in 1928, also in Pt. Pirie.
Any information on this family would be very much appreciated.

Australia / Laurence Robin GUERIN
« on: Friday 23 September 22 03:57 BST (UK)  »
I am wanting to make contact with any descendant of Laurence Robin Guerin, b. 6 Dec 1929.  He died Oct. 2003.  Married in April 1961 at St. Columba's Anglican Church, Hawthorne, Adelaide.  He was the youngest of 4 children of Hurtle St. Clair Guerin and his wife Rosalie Elizabeth (nee Andrews).  It is unknown if Laurence's wife is still alive.
Any information would be much appreciated.

Australia / Help with DNA
« on: Thursday 15 September 22 07:18 BST (UK)  »
I did a DNA test through Ancestry aa couple of years ago and I have a match with a (now deceased) relative who also did his DNA.  His daughter, with whom I have had a lot of contact as she is managing his Tree, is very keen to discover the identity of her Grandfather.

Her father was born in Adelaide but the person we think is the most likely one to be her Grandfather, was born in the mid north of South Australia, as were two of his known children.  All are now deceased.

The biological mother of this gentleman was also from the same area, although she gave birth at a Mother and Babies home in Adelaide.
The gentleman in question is shown as a 2/3rd cousin to me with 121cms and 2% shared DNA.

Another relative who is an even closer match to myself - 358cms and 5% shared DNA, also is a mystery.  It would be great if we can find the connection there too.  This relative also lives in Adelaide. My father's family were all born in South Australia as opposed to my mother's side, who were born in NSW.

Is there anyone I could contact who could point me in the right direction to hopefully confirm the identities of both these connections?

I only know of one living person who could do a DNA in the first case, but a niece of hers has suggested that perhaps that she should not do a test.  This person is the granddaughter of the most likely biological father, so it is disappointing that she has suddenly had a change of heart.

Myself and the above people are all connected through DNA, which makes it fairly clear that we are connected through my father's side.

Yes MAJM,  I am trying to research for a friend who has recently discovered that she has a half brother.  Hence I did not have a lot to go on but said I would try and find out a little on his maternal side, which I have done and then thanks to people on Roots Chat, more info has come to light.

Further to my investigations re this family, I am hoping someone will be able to help me with the date of death of John Henry Heath Robinson, also known as John Henry Heath.  He supposedly died around 1930 and I would have thought in NSW, but cannot find a death for him in the NSW BDM. His wife was Gladys Olive May (nee Saunders) who died 1967 Balmain, NSW. The family appear not to know what happened to him, other than he died!

Thank you Sparrett,  Sounds as those this is possibly the parents of John Henry Heath (Robinson).  It has been confirmed that Emily's surname was Heath and obviously her son preferred to use his mother's maiden name rather than his father John E Robinson's name.  Perhaps young John and his father became estranged, as seems his parents marriage wasn't exactly a happy one!

Again, many thanks to everyone who contributed replies to Gladys Olive May Barnes. I have been overwhelmed by your posts  .I don't know where the "Barnes" name came from as her mother's maiden name was Bradshaw.  She appears in the NSW BDM twice for her marriage, one saying her husband was John H Heath and the other says her husband was John H H Robinson (same registration number).  It appears as though he used Heath most of the time and his court appearance in 1932 confirms this.  A member of his family advised he was a doctor and again the Court notice confirms this too.  I can only assume that the Divorce notice was for him - Heath and Gladys (Barnes) Heath.  I do not have access to a marriage for them in 1928 but I will suggest to the person for whom I have been following these people, that they obtain a Transcript. Thank you Dundee for advising Lisetta's middle initials as Evangeline Gladys.  Thanks to Cup o Life re the divorce.
