H Ruske & Brigidmac,
The puzzle I mentioned is actually from an adoption case I worked on.
I actually managed to trace birth mum via my adopted friends DNA test and now they are happily reconnected.
Birth mum has since revealed who birth dad is, and now we are awaiting the possible half sibling DNA results to come through. No doubt that they will be positive as the family resemblance is remarkable.
The shared match that I mentoned on previous reply is not from maternal line, as I have been able to seperate maternal dna from paternal dna.
Being slightly dense again, am I expecting the single shared match it to show on the paternal line once half sibling results come through.
Thanks for thoughts.....

Hi all,
I have a 150 cm match, with no other shared matches at all. I have researched her tree back to all sets of great-grandparents, with still no clue at all.
Any ideas what I should do next ?
Maybe I'm being a bit dense but cannot understand why it's only the two of us match.
Any plan of action greatfully received

Hi Brigidmac,
Thank you for your response
So is this lady your second cousin also ?
I have a first cousin once removed at 514 cm proven family relationship.
Any ideas to my 671 cm 18 segs ? Am I looking at a grandparent connection ?
Many thanks

Hi all...<it's me again !! >
Have any of you lovely people have a proven family relationship with 671 cms on your DNA matches ?
I am referring to DNA painter but would be interested in what anyone else has on their proven matches.
As all your point of references are always really helpful.
Stay safe out there and thank you.

Hi everyone,
At least I am not alone, so frustrating especially when you are really quick as a researcher and hop in and out of each individual birth etc until you find the connection you are looking for.
Thanks again

Hi,
As long as it's not just me, I'm searching GRO birth 1837-1915 & 1916 onwards.
It's been happening for a couple of days, I've even tried changing my web browser.
I will call ancestry tomorrow.
Thank you everyone

The Common Room / Ancestry birth registration year not appearing

Hi,
When I am searching for births on Ancestry, the birth year doesn't seem to appear in the registration year column ,next to the registration quarter. You have to click into the persons name to view the year of birth. Only relatively recent birth years are showing up.
Is anyone else having the same issues ?
Frustrating !!
Thank you

The Common Room / Re: Freedom of information act 2000...re adoption waiting list

Hi Antony,
I have a CERTIFIED COPY OF ENTRY , it states in the first column date & county of birth of child, it gives date of birth....then handwritten signed...Hackney, sub district Hackney North in the registration district of birth.
It gives the date of adoption order and where it took place. Croydon County Court 27/4/1960, and the the date of entry 10/5/1960.
Obviously I won't publish date of birth but the year was 1954.
So are we presuming he was born in Hackney as previously thought ?
Many thanks again for any thoughts
