The Common Room / Find my past credits re 1921 census
« on: Friday 31 December 21 13:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
I just logged into FindMyPast to purchase credits in anticipation to be ready to view the 1921 census when it's released next week.
I seem to remember when the 1911 was released with FindMyPast I bought credits to view as an option.
I couldn't find anyway to pay for credits when I just looked.....
So are we purchasing for each view individually and not having the option to buy bulk credits ?
Or have I missed something.......
Many thanks....Helen.

The Common Room / Ancestry ticks
« on: Thursday 09 December 21 15:19 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
I'm starting to have ticks on some of the ancestry messages I have sent.
In all the years I have been messaging via Ancestry can't say I've noticed this before as the messages have always appeared as delivered or read on the bottom of message.
Do the ticks mean message read ?
Obviously rare to have any responses from messages sent these days on Ancestry but we live in hope.
Many thanks....Helen.

Warwickshire / Stuart's Tippers 1960's
« on: Monday 26 July 21 15:37 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
Would anyone know of a company called STUART'S TIPPERS possibly operating out of Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Wiltshire or Gloucestershire in the late 1950's or early 1960's.
Maybe a family member was employed by them or you lived near them.
Any leads would be greatfully received.
Many thanks....Helen.

The Common Room / Your first 1921 census look up
« on: Sunday 18 July 21 13:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi guys,
Not much doing today as it's so hot....
So I was wondering who will be your first person to look up on the 1921 census when released in the new year and maybe why ? Will it help you break through a research brick wall that has been a stumbling block for the last ten years or even more ??
Mine will be two Hunt sisters Emma & Elizabeth Ann born 1878 & 1881, both orphaned and went into the Muller homes , last seen on 1911 census in and around Surrey working in service. Would love to know where they went onto.
Look forward to reading yours...........
Stay safe.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Half great Uncle Tom
« on: Wednesday 07 July 21 14:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

Just working on a DNA case for a friend.

Would 746 centimorgans fall in the boundaries of a half great uncle ?

I've have gone through all the possible relationship options that Ancestry offer and due to my friends age of 85 I feel sure he is a half sibling of the shared matches grandmother.

I have also refered to DNA painter and mapped out a tree for the shared match going back five generations which ties in with much lower shared matches trees of about 30 cms with same surname appears on trees.

The shared match was born in 1972, her mother 1955 and my lovely elderly friend was born in 1936. So I think I have found who his father was ,born 1903

Just wondering if I am on the correct theory track of relationship. This has taken 6 months to disipher but due to the new 743 cm match appearing it has confirmed what I initially thought.

I would welcome any thoughts or anyone else out there with a half great uncle match, or to set me on the correct track if my theory is incorrect.

Thank you so much in advance !!

The Common Room / GRO birth application help needed....
« on: Wednesday 03 March 21 16:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
I've ordered a lot of certificates in the past from online GRO, but the page number for the birth I would like to order is not recognised when I fill in the online application form.
This person may be alive so I will not publish names the reg details are as follows :-
Year 1961.....registration district Hackney..volume no 5c...page number D'73 1455/S.
Would I have to go direct to Hackney to purchase this ?
Or is it re registered in another year/quarter.
Any ideas....
Many thanks
