I have a Thomas Guthrie who married Hannah Bradford in Leeds in 1794 in my family tree. I am searching for Thomas's relatives who have him in their family trees also. Does your family tree go back that far?

I have Thomas hick Guthrie in my family tree
Wow, great, you have Thomas Hick Guthrie in your family tree. I guess that makes us cousins about 100 times removed. I am wondering if you have any Guthrie's in the 1700's? My paper trail ends at 1794.

She was born in 1939, her grandfather was Godfrey Guthrie, are you related to him?
It seems to me that most of the Guthrie's in Leeds are related in some manner. There was a great aunt, of mine, born in 1839, Mary Guthrie, born in Armley, whose father was Ebenezer Guthrie, and mother was Mary Ann Land. Being of the same age I bet they knew each other, and were possibly cousins. If you are interested I can post a list of my male relatives who lived in Leeds in the early 1800's.

I am a descendant of a Guthrie family in Leeds my Grandmother's surname was Guthrie before she married
Do you know when your Grandmother was born? I have several Great Aunts who were born in Leeds.

I do not know the maiden name of the wife for William Guthrie. William was born around 1740. He married Elizabeth ?? around 1767, or before, when their child Thomas was born. He lived at Bewick Folly, parish of Eglingham. Thomas was baptized at Cheviot Street Chapel, not West Street Chapel as noted in the records. The two chapels were mixed up as I understand. My DNA matched the Dresser family DNA and I am wondering if Elizabeth's maiden name was Dresser. Elizabeth is actually six generations from me, however, according to the DNA rules there is a 70.93 percent chance that the Dresser's and Guthrie's have a common ancestor in six generations. I know the maiden names of all Guthrie's until Elizabeth. I just have another thought. If there is a Dresser family there did she marry a Guthrie not named William? There were more than one Guthrie family living there at the time, and I may have picked the wrong Guthrie as being in my family tree. William and Elizabeth are both family names which is why I chose them.

I am seeking a Dresser family who may have lived in Bewick Folly, Parish of Eglingham, Northumberland in the early 1760's. My DNA matched the Dresser Family, however, I have not been able to find the connection with a great grandfather.

Hi Annette 7
I am hoping to find a Northumberland Guthrie family who lives in Northumberland now, or who has/had relatives living in Northumberland who has a Guthrie family tree leading back to the 1760/1770's. I believe I may have relatives living in Northumberland now, who are related to Thomas Guthrie of Leeds, England. I believe the Guthrie family in Northumberland goes back to the 1560's when Scotland and England had a short war and Scotland lost. The Guthrie Clan fought in that war with other clans. Annette 7 you are really getting me excited about all this....thank you...

Hi Annette 7
I was excited to see your question about how I knew that Thomas Guthrie was from Northumberland. I don't really know that he was from Northumberland. He was the most promising Thomas Guthrie I had found in my search because his family names were the same as my family names. What also excites me is how do you know that Thomas Guthrie of Leeds, England died in 1846? I never knew that. I am hoping to find a Northumberland Thomas Guthrie family tree that would lead back to Leeds, England.
