Stirlingshire / James Laird Born 1756 in Larbert

I am hoping that someone can help me. I am looking for the parents of James Laird born 12th January 1756 in Larbert. He was married to Margaret Drysdale in Larbert on 7th June 1780.
Spouse Margaret Drysdale was born 1760 and died 1853.
James's parents might be Robert Laird born 1727 and died 1772.
Barbara Brown born 1725 and died 1770 was Robert's wife.

The tricky part is that I can find no marriage certificate or birth certificate for James around the dates given above. Some trees on Ancestry have Robert Laird and Barbara Brown as his parents. But I can find no certificates to prove this. I have checked all the trees I know of and it is frustrating.

Australia / Elizabeth Henrich from Mitchell in Queensland

I was looking for some information about my ancestor. Elizabeth Hollywood who married Peter James Henrich. She stayed in Eastern Creek, Mitchell, Queensland. Unfortunately she died in a house fire on 14th June 1935. I was trying to find out about what happened to her. If anyone can give me any info. It would be appreciated.

World War One / Medal Card help required for Bernard McSheaffrey.

I have the medal card for the above person. He was in the Scottish Rifles. He was awarded the Victory Medal. It has D/103 B19 and page 2321 beside it. Underneath it has do. do. So he was awarded the British Medal too. His Rank was Pte. He has two Regtl. Numbers. Wondering if he served in two different campaigns. The first Regtl Number is 36823 and the second one is 63212. Hoping you can help change the info into a readable form for me.

Lanarkshire / Peebles Scrapyard on Southside of Glasgow. Also Mary Fox the Florist in Glasgow.

Just wondering if anyone has any old photographs or information on the above two premises. I believe the scrapyard was owned by Victor Fox. Victor was born 1891 in Gallowgate, Glasgow and died 1954 in Buchanan Street, Glasgow. As I am working on the Fox family tree from Glasgow on behalf of a friend.
Or if anyone has any information on the Florist's Shop that was ran by Mary Fox in Glasgow. I'm afraid I do not know it's location. But in the 1881 Census. It has Peter Fox, age 50, Confectioner and Florist, born Ireland. Peter's Wife was Elizabeth, age 40. And their Daughter, Mary Fox, age 18, who is a Florist. Elizabeth and Mary were born Glasgow.

Lanarkshire / Chocolate and Biscuit factories in Glasgow in 1919

I am looking on information on either a chocolate factory or a biscuit factory or both that was in Glasgow in 1919.
The girl in question was residing at 21 Possil Road, Glasgow and her occupation was a Chocolate packer.
Her mother in law was a biscuit packer. I was thinking it could have been Tunnocks or Gray Dunn's. So if any one can come up with any factories that existed in 1919.

Perthshire / Welsh family from Crieff

Looking for some help on this family , please.
I want to trace backwards from Sidney Welsh, born 26th Feb 1917, in Cameron's Buildings, East High Street, Crieff. Sidney's parents were William Thomas Welsh, who was a Cruelty Animal Inspector and Sarah Kowen. I believe this maybe Cowan, but that's how it was written on the cert. William and Sarah were married on 25th Nov 1891 in Norwich. I have some more info on the various Welsh connections who appear to have resided in the Glasgow area.

Lanarkshire / James Buchanan number 16 possible sweetshop

Hello Rootschatters,
trying to find some information for my American cousin.
James Buchanan ran a sweet or confectionery shop in Glasgow.
A sign above the shop reads James Buchanan with the number 16 on each side of his name. The shop sold Fry's Cocoa and Chocolate. I wondered if any one had a shop directory that maybe identifies the above shop.

Family History Beginners Board / Name of the ship required

Hello folks,
I'm just looking to see if anyone can help me with the name of a ship where my ancestor was washed overboard back on 24th December 1928. It happened off the Isle of May and his body was never found. His name was Alexander Grundison Buchanan.
He was aged 39 and worked on the ship as a mate.
On his death certificate, it lists the name of the ship, but it could be one of two possibles.
The name of the ship was either the Linn O' Des or the Linn O' Dee.
Official number was 137,118. Not sure what that refers to?
Ship was registered in Aberdeen. Several of the Buchanan ancestors were Fisherman in and around Prestonpans in East Lothian. So i'm just wondering if this was perhaps a small fishing boat or maybe something a bit more grand.
