Hi Heatherjulie and Heywood,

Thanks so very much for looking up information for me. I am now convinced that Herbert Green was my Bertha Cottam  husband.
I see it even mentioned the mothers surname which was Cottam.  A big thankyou for looking up the census of the Green family. I appreciate all the work you have done for me.

Regards

Warwickshire / I have two marriages , one is wrong, of a Bertha Cottam at Warwickshire
« on: Monday 23 September 13 08:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone,

I wonder if someone could help me out with this one,  I have a Bertha Cottam married to a Herbert Green in 1904 at Warwickshire,  I think that must be the correct one, as someone found it for me from rootschat, Many years ago  someone sent me info and a 1930 census from Pennyslavania of a Bertha B.H. cottam married to a William Thompson .  On my 1881, 1891 and 1901 census Bertha is listed without the intials. Her parents are definitely Harrison Hutchinson cottam and Elizabeth Ann Cottam(formerly Mason) they are on all my census exept for the 1901 census , just  bertha with her two sisters Florence who is my gt grandma and Minnie .Florence was then 22 , Minnie 20 and Bertha 17 They were living 13 Alfred st Hyde Cheshire. In 1881 census they were living Lydgate saddleworth Yorkshire.

I have been sent this info :'
1913 Edith E green Atherstone Warwickshire  mmmCottam,
1905 Ruth Lillian Vol 6d page 465
1907 Herbert Harriason, green  think its ment to be spelt Harrison green vol 6d page 443
1910 Julia Maud green vol 6d page 462
I have tried looking this info up but could not find it, if it is 1911 census in Warwickshire cant get the bmd's  for Warwickshire. or is it from the 1911 census?  would like to know2 where they were living then. Their parents were not on this list either it seems?
Oh and Herbert green's father they said was a John Green no mention of his mother.

Hope someone can help if possible thanks. Thought I would post this on the Warwickshire site as  that is where my Bertha was married I think.
Regards

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Marriage of Bertha Cottam to Herbert Green Warwickshire1904
« on: Sunday 22 September 13 09:47 BST (UK)  »
Hi Anyone,

Is  there anyone researching the Cottams from Yorkshire, as my Gt Grandma Florence had a sister Bertha ,and my Bertha  could be amongst their records I am actually trying to get the correct Marriage of my Bertha, I thought she was married to William Thompson who in 1906 emigrated to America and I have her on a 1930 Cenus of Pennyslavani.a they had 4 children. and travelled to new York, and new jersey has two of the children were born there. On the 1930 cencus Bertha had the intials after her name of B. H. cottam but on my 1881, 1891, and 1901 censu in Yorkshire, and then they moved to Hyde in in Cheshire. they did not have the B.H. intial. I was told she could have married a Herbert Green. If she did she would be then living in England. Herberts father is a John Green.
Bertha's parents were definitely Harrison Hutchinson Cottam and Mother was Elizabeth Ann Cottam  (formerly Mason)

Appreciate any help if possible,

Regards

My Bertha Cottam did not have the intials B.H. on the 1891 and 1901 census I have of them living in Hyde Cheshire, the first census I have in rediate1881 they were living in Yorkshire.  I was given information that Bertha could have married a Herbert Green . Hi Heather,

I thought I would look-up those names you gave me for the green family.
""
1913 Edith Atherstone Warwickshire  does it mean mother cottam?

1905 Ruth Lillian did not say where, I assume its Warwickshire?

1907 Herbert harriason is that spelt wrong, maybe meant to be Harrison?  also Warwickshire.?

1910 Julia maud  also Warwickshire?

I take it these are all children of Bertha and Herbert green?

I was only able to find one and that was 1905 Ruth.

So just wondered if you found this information somewhere else.

Hi Lizdb, and heather Julie,

Thanks so much for your help, it seems I have had the wrong information , someone sent lots of info to me from roots chat a long time ago, and I really enjoyed thinking he was from further a field like America.

Bertha's surname was Cottam her father definitely was Harrison Hutchinson, and mother was Elizabeth Ann ,maiden name mason.

so now will have to check Herbert green out instead of Thompson and not forgetting the child Herbert Harrison green.

I am so glad I decided to research Bertha with William again, otherwise I would not have ever known I had the wrong names hey.

thanks again all of you
