England / Joseph Chamberlain & Martha Strutt
« on: Thursday 05 March 09 21:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all
Seeking information as to the children of Joseph Chamberlain & Martha Strutt. Joseph was born on 18/12/1752 and died in 1837 and his parents were from Wiltshire. Martha  was born in 1762 and died in 1824 and her parents were from Essex. They were married in St Cuthberts, Edinburgh on 02/04/1792.
I seem to have everything before them and after them apart from a blank about their children.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Dee & Jenn
We hang our heads as we should have put in the information that we already have. Here it is -
No details of children of William & Lucy Humphries however we do know that their son William John Humphries married an Ellen Mann (1844- 1919) and had at least one child Thomas Jeffery Humphries (1874-1923) who married Annie McKee (1868-1928). This information gleaned from cemeteries in SA.
Thomas Jeffery Humphries and Annie Mckee were my wife's grandparents and we have full details of their children etc. Thomas Humphries was a publican and at one time (1905-1908 and possibly longer) was the licensee of the Commercial Hotel,Fremantle. May also have had an interest in the Excxhange Hotel in Pingelly WA.

Hi Dee

Many thanks for your help. We'll just keep plugging away and will probably visit SA Genealogy next year while we are visiting from Perth.

Hi

Sorry I can't give you any specific information of this gentleman but the Quartermaine family are well known in the Katanning district. In fact I think that the Quartermaine's were the first settlers in Katanning.
There is a very active historical society in the town and if you google in Katanning Historical Society they will most probably be able to help you.
