Sorry, Nellie - I agree with your transcription, but I can't interpret that one either. I can only think 'Church of England' when I see C of E!

Hard to think of it anything other than Church of England isn’t it?
I might pop it up on the general military board and see if it is recognisable to a wider audience.

I think it's Warley (Warley Barracks) and then Maidstone.

Ah…yes.
It was the “arrived in India” that threw me.
Of course, that makes sense. Especially when it’s then got a ship’s name!
