Hi,

I have a marriage query.

Joel England X Elizabeth Drew, at St. Stephen Bristol.

On the IGI the date given is         26 Mar 1793   batch number M01997-2.
On the Bristol marriage Cd's
the date is                                   26 Mar 1797.

Could anyone tell me which is the correct one Please.   :-\

Hi,

Does anyone have access to the Fleet marriages that would be willing to do a look up for me please.

I'm looking for the marriage of:

Thomas Whitethread on 13 May 1744.

The IGI reference is RG7-176.

I'm hoping his bride is Sarah Bates.

Any other details would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Linda

Gloucestershire / How embarrassing
« on: Saturday 11 August 12 20:17 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I'm rather embarrassed about my request, .... but,

I'm looking for a marriage that I've found before, but I didn't make a note of where I found the source.  :-[

The marriage is between Abigail Keene X Robert Jones (a stone mason).

The marriage date I have is 21 July 1820 in Avening.

Avening is on the IGI, but this marriage does not feature. I suspect it may be a non conformist wedding as a baptism of one of their children I found took place at Forest Green Chapel Nailsworth Independent, Avening. This was for Joel Jones 22 Feb 1829. This is on the IGI, confirmed on the genealogist.

Any help would be appreciated.

Linda.

London and Middlesex / help needed with a marriage
« on: Monday 02 July 12 17:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm looking for the marriage of a James Pitman/Pittman to a Mary c. 1740 - 1750.

I have found baptisms for 8 children of this couple starting in 1748 at St Botolph Aldgate (East Smithfield/Houndsditch area), through to 1761 in the St Paul Shadwell area.

There is also another possible child born in 1744, baptised in St Mary Whitechapel.

I have tried to find the marriage records online for St Mary's via An...try, but I can't find them.

I've trawled through the St Botolph Aldgate registers, but no luck.

Can anyone help?

Essex Lookup Requests / Marriage look up for Gullock Please
« on: Friday 25 May 12 18:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Can any one help me?

I'm looking for the marriage of a GULLOCK (Possibly William) to an ANN JANE ?. This marriage would have taken place around 1780 - 1795 possibly in the South Essex area.

I have found 2 baptisms on the IGI for their children John Burton Gullock 1791 & Rebecca My Burton Gullock 1797 both in Hornchurch.

There is also a Matilda Burton Gullick baptised in Hornchurch in 1793.

I believe this family may have originated in the Rochford/ Prittlewell area.

Any help would be appreciated.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / James PITMAN - London
« on: Saturday 21 April 12 13:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'd appreciate a look up for James Pitman in London.

I believe that there are two James Pitman's listed for 1742 and another James Pitman listed for 1748.

The person I am interested in lived around East Smithfield (St Botolph Aldgate) area of London, and was listed as a butcher in his will.

His wife was called Mary, but it may be too early for him to have been married.

Thanks,

Linda

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / *COMPLETED* Baptism's in 2 parishes
« on: Thursday 19 April 12 12:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I have found some baptisms for the children of a James & Mary Pittman (Pitman) around the 1750's, but what's puzzling me is that they appear on 2 separate registers for 2 different Anglican churches.

The 2 churches in question are St Botolph Aldgate & St Botolph Aldersgate. Was there a tie up between these 2 churches? The baptism took place on the same day.

The 1st two baptisms are the one's that I am puzzled about.

Ann Pittman                 11 Sept 1748            Both churches
James Pittman              31 Dec 1749                         "
Mary Pittman               10 May 1752                 Aldersgate
William (Wm) Pitman      28 Oct 1753                 Aldgate
Esther Pittman              30 Mar 1755                Aldgate
George Pitman               17 Oct 1756              St Paul Shadwell
George Pitman               1 Mar 1761                         "

Anyone have any ideas?

London and Middlesex / *UPDATE :Huguenot Quarto series Vol. LIII (53)
« on: Wednesday 21 March 12 18:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I've just been given a possible lead to an ancestor of mine.

A Samuel Record and his wife Emma De Hay may have applied to the Huguenot "Coqueau Charity". Emma his wife is almost certainly of Huguenot descent as she appears in one of the census returns in a French Protestant hospital.

I believe that details of applicants to this charity appear in the Quarto series Volume LIII (53). I understand that there can be a wealth of genealogical information in these records as they would have had to prove their entitlement.

Does anyone have access to these records that would be prepared to see if Samuel is mentioned?

I have found a baptism on the IGI, (unconfirmed), for Samuel on the
08 AUG 1803     Sion Chapel-Union Street Lady Huntingdons-Nc, Mile End Old Town, London, England. This also gives his birth as 1st Feb 1802. His father was named as Francis Record and his mother Mary.

I have not been able to find anything on Francis Record.

Any help appreciated.

London and Middlesex / marriages at Hampstead St. John's
« on: Friday 10 February 12 21:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi does anyone know whether the marriage registers for Hampstead St. John's can be found on line anywhere?

So far only the Baptism's & burials seem to be on Ancestry. The marriages don't even seem to be there to browse.
