shaunJ thank you

Jim1 what is MIC ? And why do you think he served overseas ?
I'm not sure about his name. On the other photo I posted is written on the back with love from Dug & Den.
The one on the right is definately Albert Dennis Wilson.
Looking at the family tree there's only one Douglas. Agewise the same age as Dennis Wilson.
Dennis born 1899 and Douglas born 1900.

Looks like the same uniform to me on the other photo. But I'm no expert.

Hi all,

I would like to know from which  time in the 20th century this uniform is and if it's Army or Air Force.

Thank you for your time.

well well,

going through my paper copies of the censuses I have, I saw that on the census 1911 Benjamin says he had 4 children (that would be Alice, Thomas, Ellen and .... Sarah ?) of which just 1 was alive in 1911.
So that would support the idea of Ellen having a twinsister.

That would also mean that Mercy had a fifth child, but obviously not with Benjamin !

jonw65 it's ok, no worries. thanks anyway

lady hawk: I know about Thomas and Ellen, not Sarah. Could well be her twinsister. thank you

Then we would have Alice, Thomas, Ellen and Sarah. The question is when and where was the 5th child born. And which child was alive census 1911.
Thomas not
Sarah Not
No clue if Alice or Ellen was alive. Will have to look into that.
I wonder if Mercy was telling the truth about 5 children of which 4 had died by 1911....

If this is so, then as Bearkat said, it adds to the census problem - we don't now have your Mercy in 1901.

and 1881 and 1891

I'm confused now....

so there were 2 Mercy Pearce, both from Kent, born about the same time and both seamstress, needlewoman.

 ???

So I don't think she married  Henry Pearce.
she was still married to benjamin Wilson. but in 1901 she said she was a widow and from Canterbury. So she did not tell the truth a lot.
Married, a widow, from Higham, from Canterbury, etc.

very interesting case, and very complicated.

2 questions still to be answered: when and where were her 2 other children born (was Daisy one of them ?)
where was she censuses 1881 and 1891

Thank you all for your replies.

here's what I think:

married to Benjamin Wilson in 1867
they had 3 children: Alice Elizabeth 1869, Thomas Benjamin 1871 and Ellen 1874.
Then for some reason she left and Mary Ann Draper moved in and never left.
she was in and out workhouses using her maiden name Pearce and not Wilson.
census 1901 in Chelsea pauper/inmate
census 1911 Higham Kent, on the census is says that she had 5 children of which 4 have died.
who were the other 2 children ? Possibly Daisy is one of them ?
died 1918 (just 7 months after Mary Ann Draper...)

I don't think she remarried (there's no proof she got divorced). Besides,  when she died she was living in a poor house (?) under the name Mercy Sophia Wilson !!
