Found a James Wilson from Writtle and wife Rebecca census 1871 in Paddington. Wondering if he already was in Paddington censu 1861. Also looking for the marriage of James and Rebecca. Daugther Alice was born about 1864 Paddington, so the must have married about 1862-1863?

Hi carmela,
thank you for your reply. No, John and Jane where not living together census 1881. Jane lived with her mother and her 2 ill. children Oscar John T. and James William.
John was with his sister and her family( I don't know if he was just visiting or living there). By 1891 they were living together (according to the census married) and they had 2 more children. They all had the surname Windley, whilst in 1881 Oscar and James were called Halls after their mother. What strikes me is that Oscar's names were Oscar John T. ,  T. for Thomas? John's names were John Thomas. Could he be the father? On James birthcertificate no father was mentioned. I don't have Oscar's cert. but I'm guessing that his father wasn't mentioned either. Many questions, few answers.

Hi Frances,
That's the right one. Thank you very much. census 1871 she's still working at Petits farm. She's then 60 years old and Stephen Hunt 84. Census 1851 shows that her husband George is alive. They have 4 children. Remains the question who's child Hannah (grandchild) is.

Hi Ruth,
PM? Sorry I'm very new at this game. PLease clarify. Sorry to sound stupid, but learning new stuff every day.

thanks for your quick reply. I already have a copy from the London Gazette. Want to know when and where he served. Live in the Netherlands so it's not possible for me to visit any local library. He was from Dorking.
Thanks anyway.
