It was called 'Waite and sons' but after doing a search on the web, nothing came up for it.

Apparently they lived at Lindum House, 10 Queen Street, Spilsby but I can't find any photos of that property on the web

I've just found out as well that Spilsby was connected with the Earls of Ancaster, it makes me wonder if he was a visitor there.  Anything's possible and I must admit, I find this mystery intriguing.

I was getting mixed up before, I thought her father owned the grocers and the riding gear shop but her father owned the grocers and her uncle owned the riding gear shop

« on: Thursday 30 April 09 13:55 BST (UK)  »
When my dad was alive he used to tell me some of his ancestors owned a circus around about the Norfolk area, my mother insists he was pulling my leg but he always sounded serious to me, has anyone ever heard of it?

No, I've not yet paid for the full certificate, I haven't yet got a bank card but they're also listed on the 1891 census for Spilsby Parish:

Thomas Waite -head - married - age 44 Grocer Born Ingoldmells
Emma Waite - wife - married - age 42 - born Lincoln
Ada E Waite - daughter - single 18 - born Spilsby
Harry Waite - son - single - 17 - Grocer's Assistant - Spilsby
Marie Waite - daughter - single - 7 - scholar - born Spilsby
Mary A Smith - sister in law - single - 52 - Lincoln
Mary Simpson  - servant - single - 18 - general domestic servant - born South Ormsby
Jane Sleight - servant - single - 20 - general servant - born Martin
Walter Hail - servant - single - 20 - general assistant
Thomas Hicks - servant - single - 25 - grocer's assistant - born Suffolk, Clare

There's also a reference to Thomas Waite in Queen Street who might be the father of Thomas Waite above:

Queen Street
Thomas Waite - head - age 75 - living on his own means - born Ingoldmells
Millicent Waite - wife - married - 78 - born Bilsby

If anyone can supply any more info, I will find it interesting

I don't particularly want proof, it's just interesting to speculate and wonder.

The owner of the high class riding gear/hunting gear shop that was next door to the grocers was Marion's uncle and the grocers shop belonged to her dad - letters were sent to my grandpa when he was young by a relative of Marion's and there's quite a lot of information in them.  At the moment my cousin is in possession of them but I had read them years ago and so had my mother and there's also implications in the letters that she'd had an affair with someone above her station and that she met him via this shop.

Does anyone know anything about the Bracegirdle family who lived in Warrington, Cheshire?  They were living there in 1905 onwards and probably earlier
