Hi,

I'm looking for the marriage of Stephen Langridge, Soldier (b. Sussex 1796) to Angellus Wood (b. Hythe, c 1797). The first child I've found was born at Bilsington in 1822. In the censuses Angellus is a native of Hythe and the couple eventually returned there after Stephen leaves the army. In the 1822 baptism Angellus' parents are given as John & Philadelphia Wood.

Thanks to all who read this,

Suffolk Lookup Offers / CRETINGHAM PRs
« on: Tuesday 16 February 10 00:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have the complete set of 9 fiche from Suffolk Record Office (1558-1900) and can do lookups. The registers seem to be incomplete, so I can't guarantee a result.

To request a lookup please use the "Suffolk Lookup Requests" board with a header starting "Cretingham PRs ...". If I don't respond in a week or so, prod me with a private message.

I work full time so no blanket searches please.

Suffolk Resources & Links / Link: Internet Archive - old published transcripts
« on: Monday 15 February 10 21:31 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

There's a tremendous resource for genealogists at the Internet Archive:
http://www.archive.org/

This is a project by libraries (mainly US, but also some Canadian and UK) to digitise their old, out of copyright books and make them available for free on the internet. Googlebooks are included.

If you put "suffolk AND parish" in the search box and select mediatype "Text" you get 19 results, most of which are books of parish register transcripts. You can read them on-line or download a PDF to browse.

Playing about with the search term can bring up other books of interest.

Works for other counties too  ;D

Hi,

I've been trying to trace the baptism of my Ancestor, Daniel HUMMERSTON, who was born c. 1802, married in Limehouse in 1825 and died London Hospital Whitechapel in 1857. In the 1841 & 51 censuses he states he was born in Middlesex (no further details). I have located a brother, Henry Peter HUMMERSTON (Daniel's wife witnesses his marriage in 1828, whoopee for the LMA/Ancestry project). Henry lived in Spitalfields and Bethnal Green and in the 1851 census gives his birth place as City of London. He married twice, the second time after 1837 (whoopee), so I know his father's name was Thomas Hummerston.
I have searched all the available indices for the East End area (IGI, BVRI, Docklands Ancestors, Non-conformist BMDs, etc) and there are no Hummerston baptisms of the right names or dates. All Hallows Barking is my last resort...

Thanks to all who take the trouble to read this,

Suffolk Completed Lookup Requests / *COMPLETED* Mickfield PRs - SPALL - 1800-1820
« on: Saturday 06 February 10 01:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

If there's anybody out there with access to the Mickfield parish registers, a check for SPALL (or SPORLE, or SPAULL) baptisms between 1800 and 1820 would be much appreciated.

Thanks to any who check this,

Sue in Australia  :)

Looking for a baptism for Peter SPALL (also spelt SPAWL, SPAUL(L), SPORL(E) or SPOOL(E)). Born probably born between 1680 & 1695 (he married in 1713 & was buried in 1742). From the Suffolk Burial Index & some Marriage records I know that a John Spall of Burgh was burying children in Grundisburgh at this time.

Thanks in advance,

Suffolk / Debenham Burials - where?
« on: Tuesday 26 January 10 01:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I have a number of deaths in Debenham for which the burial is NOT in the Churchyard of St Mary.

Does anyone know of any other burial grounds for Debenham residents in the 19th century?

Norfolk Completed Look up Requests / *COMPLETED* Norwich St Peter Hungate - BECKWITH
« on: Saturday 16 January 10 00:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Would anybody be able to check if there was a baptism for Ambrose BECKWITH c. 1751-2 in the register of St Peter Hungate?

The age is from his burial.

I've checked most of the other Norwich parishes, but St Peter Hungate isn't readily available.

Thanks in advance,
