Hi,

If there's anybody out there who can access Essex PRs, would it be possible to get a look up of the following in the Bocking St Mary registers:

Marriage of Thomas Goodman and Mary Ann Pluck 22 Jan 1813 (confirmation of an IGI submission and witnesses if possible)

Baptism of:
William Goodman, c 1815-6
Mary Ann Goodman, c 1816-7

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

I was baptised in St Hubertus Church, RAF Butzweilerhof, Cologne, Germany in February 1955. I would like to get a copy of the register entry, but I can't find which archive authority holds the registers.

Does anybody out there know how to do this?

« on: Friday 29 May 09 14:54 BST (UK)  »
I don't know what's going on, but I am currently unable to access the Dorset OPC site (http://www.opcdorset.com/). I get an "Address Not Found" error.

Does anyone know what has happened to this MARVELLOUS Dorset site?

Sue  :'(  (currently in a state of shock)

PS - Up, down, here or gone, I would still like to thank the Dorset OPC volunteers

Suffolk Completed Lookup Requests / Whitton Parish Register - KEENE - c 1760
« on: Saturday 09 May 09 12:46 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the marriage of Henry Keen(e) and Sarah (possibly Emerson). The marriage would have taken place c 1760 (their first child was baptised in Nov 1761). The couple were "settled" in Whitton shortly after the marriage, so it is possible that it took place in Whitton St Mary.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this.

Sue :)

Looking for a baptism for Peter SPALL (also spelt SPAWL, SPAUL(L), SPORL(E) or SPOOL(E)). Born probably born between 1680 & 1695 (he married in 1713 & was buried in 1742). From the Suffolk Burial Index I know that a John Spall was burying children in Grundisburgh at this time.

Occupation Interests / Shaft bender
« on: Monday 04 May 09 08:47 BST (UK)  »
On my gg-grandmother's birth certificate (1837, Lambeth) her father's occupation is given as "shaft bender". Does anybody know for certain what this involves? I thought it might have something to do with carriage making.

Sussex / Finding a locality in the James Gray Collection
« on: Monday 04 May 09 07:55 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

Having seen the post by petmas in the resources section about the James Gray Collection of photos of Brighton, I immediately jumped across to have a look. (http://www.regencysociety-jamesgray.com/)

It was bemoaned that while browsing you didn't know what the street was until you opened the photo making it difficult to find a specific location.

Good news! The search box on the front page allows you to search on street names. I put in "Chalk Farm" and the site came up with a link to a photo of the slum where my ancestors were residing in 1871. Never thought I'd see a photo of that!
