London and Middlesex / Re: OLIVE children - which are their's?
« on: Saturday 25 May 19 07:50 BST (UK)  »
Update on my previous post, with big thanks to those who gave assistance.

I applied for birth certificates for all the babies and discovered that:

Jane Charlotte born 10 Apr 1861 - died Sept 1/4 1861, haven't got death certificate yet.
John William born 4 Jan 1863 - died Sept 1/4 1866 haven't got death certificate yet.
Emma born 20 Oct 1865, found in 1871, 1881 census. Haven't gone any further with her.
Eliza Maria born 21 Nov 1867 - died Mar 1/4 1870 (aged 2) haven't got death certificate yet
William Henry born 27 Jul 1870, found in census 1871, 1881 and 1891. Gone no further with him yet.
George James born 20 Nov 1872 - died Mar 1/4 1873, haven't got death certificate yet.
Mary Ann born 16 June 1874 and died Mile End, Sept 1/4 1874, haven't got death certificate yet.
Maria born 7 Nov 1877 - died Dec 1/4 1878, haven't got death certificate yet.
Annie Maria born 23 Sept 1879, survived long enough to give birth to my grandmother, and died in Apr 1903 of cardiac problems at the age of 23.

So, it looks as though my great grandmother and 2 of her siblings survived into adulthood. Just.

Now I'm curious as to how the babies died ........... that's a job for another day! Thanks again.

Hi Hannah,
Thanks for getting in touch. It took me a while to find Christine's email address, as I haven't had any contact with her since 2011, but I found it. I'll contact her and ask her if it's ok for me to pass it on to you. It's been so long since I've been on this website I forget if it's possible to send a private message. If possible, can you send me one, maybe with your email address and I can pass it on?

Thanks Ruskie,
We've been in touch and plan to have a chat on the phone over the weekend. I can't believe after all these years, I've found someone on this branch of the tree! It's always exciting to make connections.
Thanks also to everyone who contributed information to this thread.

I've heard back from my cousin and she said her mother told her that Irene had died in 1999, and on another genealogy website someone has added that she passed away in a nursing home unbeknownst to her family. Very sad, but we'll keep looking. Thanks everyone for all your help.

Wow cupoflife, you've been busy! Thank you so much.

The distant cousin (Louise) that I'm working with is Gladys's grand daughter, she's got nothing more than me on this one. Good point about her sibling's death notices. I haven't looked there and I'm not sure if Louise has either. I'll go back to looking there.

Thanks again,

Thank you all again for giving up your time to help me with this problem. You've certainly given me lots of positive assistance, and yes JM, I think maybe we are assuming that Irene is deceased. I've messaged my cousin to ask how she found out Irene was deceased, I don't think we have concrete proof!
I've got to go now, the sun is shining here and is too precious to waste! I'll get back to solving the mystery tonight!
Thanks again.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Cando, that's my previous thread. I'll check out the links that JM has posted re cemeteries. I don't think she could have been permanently institutionalised either.

Would it be improper of me to give her name here? I know she has no living siblings and her son has not been in contact with anyone who is left.

Thanks again,
