Thank you so much Sinann. So quick so easy (when you know how!!!!!!!!!!!)

Really appreciate your quick help

Have confirmed the parentage but have shown that other family searchers on An...y have taken the easy route and have managed to mess up a tree through sloppy researching.

Thank you Carole, I have seen that census. I have tried following each of the names shown but with no success. I will take another look at it.

But I am hoping to find a 1861 census with Dunbar Street on it??

Looking for Richard Williamson prior to Dec 1861.

I have a marriage for Richard on the 22 Dec 1861 to a Maria Hudson.

The marriage certificate gives his age as 20,(occupation Carter) and his fathers name as John Williamson (occupation Carter) and his residence at time of marriage Dunbar Street.

The marriage was at St. John's Church, Manchester. The only Dunbar St. I can find is Oldham.

Subsequent census gives his place of birth as Salford (1871) and Manchester (1881 & 1891).

Have searched for census earlier than 1871 without success, would welcome any help from Rootschat.

Thank you all for the replies, really appreciate it. I do have all the information but have found it in roundabout ways.

But from the information that you have provided I think I may have resolved my problems. I think it is a simple matter of spelling:

Absalom, Absolom, Absolam.  I think I may now have to input Abs*l*m.

It so simple NOW!!! but thank you all

On freebmd I have this marriage:

Surname    First name(s)        District    Vol    Page
Marriages Jun 1904   (>99%)
Absalom    Joseph        Shepton M.    5c   905     Scan available - click to view
Long            Ellen Eliza        Shepton M.    5c   905     Scan available - click to view

But when I try to pick up this marriage on An..try it does not give it.  I also seem to have problems both on Ancestry, Freebmd and GRO in picking up any birth/death/marriage references for the name Absolam any idea's why?

Thank you Anthony. I was,nt sure if the "i/a" was giving how premature the baby was, but I see now that this is not the case. I have the birth and death certificates, do you know if a formal burial would have been required ?
