This is me and my late husband in the late 80s. Could anyone clean it up a bit for me? It's an old photo so not sure the quality is up to it? Thanks in advance.

Could be. They spent a lot of years round Shudehill and Withy Grove though?  Only way I'll know is if I send for it!  Thanks.

On the Lancashire BMD site there is this birth for 1857:-

TAYLOR   Elizabeth   TAYLOR   London Road   Archives+, Manchester Central Library   LRD/48/59

A possibility?

Yes that's what it looks like but still no GRO record?

Thanks, yes sorry.

Eliz is daughter of John Taylor and Ann Taylor - Taylor is her maiden name as well as married name - tho can't find a marriage for them either!

The birth you highlighted I have already sent for, it's not the right one unfortunately.

You don't give any census references which might help.

I'm not clear as to whether mum was a Taylor who married a Taylor?

There is this birth but it suggests an illegitimate birth.

I'm trying to confirm a name for my 2nd great aunt who I think is Elizabeth Taylor. She was born c1858/9 in Manchester according to censuses but in both 1861 and 1871 her name is written as what looks like a shorthand version though there are other Elizabeth's on the page written in full (see green arrows) so I'm wondering if her name is actually Eliza, or something else. On 1861 census Ann has been added as a second name.

Problem is I can find no birth record for her which should be easier now with the GRO search (surname Taylor, mother's maiden name also Taylor). She had two brothers born in 1860 and 1870 respectively. I have certificates for both of them. I cannot find her in 1881 and it's likely that she is married. I've looked for likely marriages with no luck. They were catholic so that might be a bit of hindrance for online records.

Anyway, I digress. Can anyone help with the name?  Thanks.
