Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Llangernyw WYNNES please help
« on: Tuesday 22 September 09 17:10 BST (UK)  »
Is there anyone able to help?

I have a john Wynne born in 1860/61 born in Llangernyw. (all censuses record Llangernyw or Llanddewi)

By 20 he is calling himself John Wynne Jones

I cannot find his parents.

One relative has suggested that he was illegitimate.

In the 1861 census he is living with his grandfather aged 9 months, Lewis Jones aged 54. Grandmother Cathrin, 48 and Aunts and Uncles.( all born Llangernyw)

The census also records I assume a brother, David Wynne aged 3 also born in Llangernyw.

I cannot find his birth have ordered certificates and got  it wrong on a number of occasions now. Have looked at registers available to 1812 but of course they finish too soon....

He ended up in Blaenau Festiniog as an adult

Can anyone help????

Thankyou for reading this.

Sorry question is has anyone got access to the parish records for 1850s to 60s??

Occupation Interests / Locomotive engine driver
« on: Wednesday 09 September 09 17:13 BST (UK)  »
I have a relative, Caleb Devonald who is variously described as an engine stoker, an engine tender, an engine man and a locomotive engine driver.

 What did they all entail??

Forgive my ignorance but does this mean he became a train driver or was he possibly working with some sort of locomotive engine used at the iron works collieries in Aberdare to transport offsite?

If he was a train driver does anyone know what lines ran through Aberdare station ( or I am in the wrong area for that query?)

Thankyou for reading this.

Pembrokeshire Lookup Requests / John Devonald Eglwyswrw
« on: Tuesday 08 September 09 22:40 BST (UK)  »
 Hallo

Have an ancestor called John Devonald who was born in 1817 in Eglwyswrw.

His father was called David.

By the time John was married (to Elizabeth Morris) he was living croes y forwyn working as a labourer. Then moved away to St Davids and then Aberdare.

I am now at a standstill. Cannot find a satisfactory David Devonald of the right age to be his father and I wondered if there are any parish records out there that someone may be willing to  look up?

Thankyou in anticipation
