Australia Lookups completed / Re: WALKER, twins/brothers went to Australia 1850's.

Hi everyone, havn't made contact as yet with the living relatives in Australia, just wanted to check a couple of things first. Could someone do a census check for me, I have them here but, can't find George on the 1841 or 1851, have the others & all dates coinside.

Also looking for any info on William's father Anthony Walker, have no dates, birth or death.
Have been told by my mother there is another family ring but it is buried with my Grt Gran, Lily Ann Walker (nee Andrew, hence my first name) in Droylsden Cemetary, her name isn't on the stone, only her sisters name, Elizabeth Nightingale, going to rectify that asap.
Hope you can help, thank you Spatts.

Hello all on my message board, especially Dee, I am overwelmed by the responce I have had since putting my request to people only yesterday, I am in shock at what has come back, it is far far more than I expected.

From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank each & every one of you for your help, I deeply appreciate all you have done, not forgetting Cancan who set me off on the right direction from the start.

Well, I'm going to let my emotions settle down before I sit down & have a real good read of all the information there is, then maybe make some contact with distant relatives.

Thank you all again,  Spatts.

Hi Geoff-E, I've seen your name on quite a few post, nice to know you have taken a interest in my quest, my skill on a pc are very basic.

Not looked into the Thomas next door, noticed he had a daughter Eliza, when William's son Joseph died between 1881-1891, Eliza his wife also had a niece staying with her, also called Eliza Clarkson (widow) aged 24 on the 1891 census.

Had to leave that & carry on trying to find the link between the Walkers of Lincoln & the brothers who went to Australia, appreciate all the help from you, Trish & Dee, thank you.

Need Help. Have Marriage cert of my Grt Grt Grandfather Joseph Walker, married to Eliza Walker (nee Kirk), Joseph's father was William Walker, married to Harriet who passed 24 Apr 1842, later married Mary (nee Dickens) 1 Nov 1842.
On the 1841 census, William (not Lincs)was a Cowkeeper & on the 1851 census William was a Dealer in Earthernware. On Joseph & Eliza's Wed cert it says William was a Potter. When marrying Mary it states William's farther was Anthony.
Looking for connection William's family & those who went to Australia.
Trying to find where William, born 1796 was from, names of siblings.
Where Anthony was from, no dates of birth & as the story goes:-

I have the family rings, my dad said they are from twin walker brothers who went to Australia in the 1850's & struck gold, one became a Mayor of a Melbourne Town & one returned to England a wealthy man, had horses & carriage with initials on the doors. The gents ring has a oval pattern on front with a crossed pick & shovel with wooden stake through the centre, inscribed inside the ring it says, (With these I got it), the lady's ring is topped with rubies but, set upside down.
In 1851 a ship, the Catherine sailed from Liverpool, on board was a Thomas Walker 26, William Walker 26 & a George Walker 19, from Lincoln.

Need Help, Looking for Walker brothers possibly twins went gold prospecting to Australia in the 1850's, have family rings & would like to know which one of them came back to England a wealthy man. The other became a Mayor of one of the towns in Melbourne & they were from Lincoln, Lincolnshire or Leicestershire. Grt Grt Grandfather Joseph Walker, wife Eliza Walker (nee Kirk) Joseph b 1835, Eliza b1841,  Joseph's father, William (Potter) by trade.

Theres is a Thomas Walker 26, wife Charlotte 28, William Walker 26, wife Isabella 22 (nee Otto or maybe Otter) & a George Walker 19 who sailed on the ship Catherine from Liverpool to Plynouth in Jan & set sail again 9th Feb 1851 to Australia, maybe stopping near a port to Melbourne before reaching Port Adelaide on the 26th May 1851.

The rings would have been commissioned at a jewellers, the mans ring is small, oval pattern on the front with crossed shovel, pickaxe & stake running through the centre from top to bottom, very similar to the one's on the memorial found at Moliagul under the anvil. Inscribed inside is (With these I got it). the woman's ring is larger with rubies on top, all set upside down. Hope someone can help, thankyou.
