I'm not sure as I have never known any other 1821s be available. I only have a transcript, not a copy of the original. It's available from Salopian Family History Company, cost me about £5 to download it a couple of years ago. Worth every penny both for myself and others I've been able to help.

I had their transcripts of 1841s for the area before they were generally available and they were good value and pretty accurate.

Update, the Wellington 1821 now costs £6 and they have 1831 Wrockwardine Wood for £2 (probably doesn't have as much info???)

From IGI, baptisms with parents Richard & Catherine

WM GROOM
07 JUL 1805 Wellington, Shropshire

FRANCIS GROMM

RICHARD GROOM
05 JUN 1808 Wellington
(Burial 21 May 1815 Aged 7 Wellington All Saints, per NBI)

CATHARINE GROOM

JOHN GROOM
06 NOV 1814 Wellington, Shropshire

JANE GROOM
06 JUN 1821 Wellington, Shropshire

 ELIZABETH GROOM

I think this is the baptism of the second Richard, although no surname is recorded

RICHARD
06 DEC 1818   Wellington, Shropshire, England
Father:  RICHARD
Mother:  CAT.

The 'female' in the 1821 Census must have been Jane. I can't find a baptism for Mary or Thomas Groom.

RICHARD GROOM
CATHERINE PRINNOCK
Marriage:  02 MAR 1802   Eyton Upon The Weald Moors, Shropshire, England
Batch No M037441

I think this is probably the marriage of Richard and Catherine.

I have two marriages in my tree around this time that took place at Eyton when the couple were both from Wellington. It appears the vicar at Wellington refused to marry non-conformists in his church. Dawley was the same. The nearest options were Eyton for Wellington, and Little Wenlock for Dawley.

There is a surviving Census for Wellington in 1821 but it does not cover Dawley.

Lawley (Common and Bank) Ketley, Hadley and a few other places are included though. It shows name, correct age, occupation and if born in county.

I only have a transcript, no access to the original or a copy.

Katie, I can't see your family on there.

The children of Edward and Ann baptised at Broseley from the IGI are
George 1817
Edward 1820
Selina 1823
Martha 1829
Mary 1829

1841 Census Broseley
Ann Bagnal 55
George 20 Engineer
Selina 15
Martha 10

1841 Broseley
Edward Bagnall 20 Coal Miner
Elizabeth 20
Edwin 10 months

This is probably the death of Edward the father, from NBI
Edward BAGNALL Date 5 May 1835 Aged 56 Place Broseley All Saints

This from the IGI looks promising and fits with Ann's age from 1841
EDWARD BAGNAL
Christening:  27 APR 1788   Saint Leonard, Broseley, Shropshire, England
Father:  JOHN BAGNAL   Mother:  MARTHA
Batch No. C011553

Where have you got Ann's maiden name of Sidoway? The only Edward Bagnal/Ann Sidoway marriage I can see is recorded in Durham in 1801 and this is a 'member submitted' entry on the IGI. This couple would surely have been older than your Edward and Ann? And Durham is a long way from Shropshire...........

That looks good Pete :)

Have you got anything for a John Dudley c.1725 in the area?

The National Archives have a Will for a Samuel Dudley, carpenter of Chelmarsh dated 1835. It possible that he is the Samuel bap. 1764 to John & Ann. £3.50 to download if you're interested.

Hope the link works!

There's an Ann Bennet baptism on the IGI at Chelmarsh

18 Jul 1731 to William and Ann

I can't find a baptism for John Dudley at Chelmarsh, in fact the first child with that surname on the PRs seems to be John and Anne's son William in 1750. There aren't any children baptised to any other Dudleys until John and Anne's children become parents themselves. That would make me think that John came from somewhere else and didn't move to Chelmarsh with his family (no record of any of his possible siblings marrying)

Pete appears to have access to local PRs, maybe you could ask him to have a look and see if he can find a John c.1725?
