Hello Jackie
Just to clarify - the newspaper article does not account for a later voyage - that was me think out loud - I should have put a ? after it.

Australia / Re: Shipwreck Passenger - to Brisbane
« on: Thursday 09 December 10 00:19 GMT (UK)  »

Hello Jackie
I think the City of Melbourne left for Brisbane with 240 passengers, 150 remaining in Melbourne and no doubt limited by the carrying capacity of the ship, with a later departure to account for the rest. There is information in the Launceston Examiner 6 August 1866. Probably some did stay in Victoria. As assisted passengers I do not know what contractural obligation they would have to the Queensland government.
And, yes, information you have of John Woldsworthy subsequent to this time will be useful to locating him.

Hello
Ooops...the Fawkner burials do not include that 1890 death, but they are the surname (if that is indeed the spelling) and looks to include contemporaries.

If Alice Upton was a widow she might have brought older children, including Lily, to this marriage. Her childbearing extends over seven years which is short for the times so she might be an older woman. Do you have the marriage certificate? - it would also have names for parents of Alice and Daniel, which would assist in locating their deaths.

Australia / Re: Caroline SANDFORD born abt 1832 TAS
« on: Tuesday 30 November 10 00:52 GMT (UK)  »

Hello Georgie

"...witness was her mother, Frances (Fanny) Sandford.  This also confirms that our Caroline was the daughter of Benjamin and Frances Sandford, ex the Caroline to Swan River.....

And it is this connection with Benjamin and Frances Sandford (servants of the Henty's) that I need to confirm....."

Can you clarify what purpose you are wanting to achieve by seeing baptism/birth details for Caroline in Tasmania. If you are confident about Caroline being the daughter of Benjamin Sandford and Fanny, how will her birth record connect this family to the Henty family and early settlement in WA? If it is the fact of her being born in Tasmania, how does that give you greater certainty?
