GERRY - On the 9th of April, at the son's residence, Kiri Kiri, Hannah Martha GERRY, formerly Mrs SMITH, aged 81 years.  Auckland papers please copy.

Do you have this death printout?.  What documentation do you have for BDM events in the lives of the  SMITHs, PRIORs and GEARYs?

"...Charles william Clark Smiths birth was found on Ancestry. On his obit I think things are a little bit wrong in some places."

Whose obit?.  If you are seeing an obit for Charles William Clark SMITH, can you please identify it.....name and date of newspaper.

I think that regulations at the time required that a death be registered at the next port of call.

This article gives lat. and long. for location of the death, 1 Jun 1868.

Ancestry Scotland Census 1841   @  Lochkieranbeg  Kilcalmonell  Argyl

THOMSON Duncan            5y                  b. Argyl
THOMSON Nancy              8y                  b. Argyl

Census 1851     @    Tayintruan    Killean and Kilchenzie   Argyl
HAMILTON Archd        85y                       b. Killean, Argyle
Farmer 30 Ac Employ 2 Men
HAMILTON Donald      40y    son                 b. Kilcalmonell, Argyle
HAMILTON Anuble      50y    dau                 b. Kilcalmonell, Argyle
Flora M Murrby          24y     g.dau              b. Kilcalmonell, Argyle
Duncan M Taritl          15y    farm servant    b. Kilcalmonell, Argyle
Hugh M Cook             24y    servant            b. Killean, Argyle

The last three are as they are transcribed on Ancestry.  I suspect that "M"  is "Mc", not initial of second given name. MURRBY is likely Murchy, Taritl is likely Tavish, and...... Hugh McCOOK.

Flora is described as a grand daughter, but Duncan is not described as a grandson.

Duncan is THOMSON in 1841, and McTAVISH in 1851, according to whoever gave the information for the census.

You would need to see the census image.   Did Archibald HAMILTON, "Farmer 30 Ac Employ 2 Men", leave a Will?
