Angus (Forfarshire) / Re: Alexander Mckenzie & Ann Greig abt 1780 - stuck

Aye, I've seen that one but never pursued old Charles. The McKenzie line is my father's mother's side...the Jolly's appear to be Kincardineshire although as just about everyone on the planet knows I'm stuck in 1811 when William Jolly married Catherine Sherret in St Cyrus :)

Might be worth having a wee poke around on the map below...not sure about the name of the place starting with a 'B' that's part of Caputh Parish showing bang in the middle of Tealing Parish.

Thanks Sandra, yes that's the man, I've had a look at the 1913 marriage but there is no mention of parents.

Canada / 1960s Canadian Death Certificate
« on: Friday 07 June 19 19:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm not familiar with Canadian records hence this very basic question. Would a death certificate from 1962 show both the deceased parents? It was a John McKenzie and as his grave is in Toronto I'm presuming he died there.
Many Thanks

Double rant! It's possibly the worst 'improvement' in a website I've ever seen  :'( I've sent them feedback suggesting the folks designing the database know nothing about presenting results in a meaningful way.

Scotland / Re: Children born out of wedlock

I am led to understand that frequently children born in Scotland (1700 - 1850's) outside of marriage were not registered.  If this is indeed the case then how can I track my ancestors who fall into this category.
(and there are a few of them)?

Richard :-\
Out of curiosity how do you know they were born out of wedlock?

Hi,
I know you said she was down as deceased on the 1962 marriage certificate but the death below looks interesting. Have you had sight of this one?
