Australia / Re: Seeking Jessie BRAYFORD nee TERRELL
« on: Wednesday 17 November 21 11:38 GMT (UK)  »
Was your mother the only child from that relationship?  By the time Joseph BRAYFORD died they were both with other partners but I cannot find how long this was using electoral rolls.

Joseph was killed in an accident in 1953 and the person calling herself his wife was named Doreen Marie.  I can't see any evidence of a marriage.  Jessie was with Charles John Rankin ELLIS and married him in 1953 when Joseph died, so there was likely no divorce.  Charles had divorced his first wife in 1940.

They were together from at least 1942 when Charles enlisted and named Jessie as his next of kin.

If the BRAYFORD marriage didn't last long then Jessie would probably not have been able to work and care for a child as well.

I also found her death listed online with her parents noted as William and Rachel with no surnames. I cannot find anything to do with a William or Rachel

That death is for a Jessie TERRELL who was born around 1885.  Your Jessie would not have died with the surname TERRELL if she married.

This your Jessie's birth:

1913
TERRELL,    Jessie
Female
Boulder
#357

You would need to purchase her birth certificate to find information on her parents.

Marriage

1932
TERRELL,    Jessie
BRAYFORD, Joseph C
Boulder
#36

You will not find much detail regarding births, deaths and marriages for later generations as this info is not publically released to protect the privacy of living people.

MATTHEWS CEDRIC MALCOLM : Service Number - NX504486 : Date of birth - 09 Jan 1926 : Place of birth - ARMIDALE NSW : Place of enlistment - MARRICKVILLE NSW : Next of Kin - MATTHEWS BETTY

This is likely her birth, a late registration in 1935:

WEEKS, Muriel Victoria
415/1935
Father: Herbert Nelson
Mother: Elsie May

You can work out the date of birth using the 'from' and 'to' fields on the search page.

You need to purchase a copy of the 1942 marriage certificate.  It should name both sets of parents and birthplaces.  The cheapest way to obtain a certtificate in NSW is to use a transcription agent.

Details are here, scroll down to 'hire a transcription agent':

Don't search for a birth on Ancestry, use both FreeBDM and the GRO indexes (pre 1934) for mother's maiden surname.

Margaret died 1 Sep 1915 in Sale

There is no death registration for Margaret in 1915.  Vic BDMs are free to search on the Registry's website.

She died in Queensland in 1957 as Margaret Louisa CLIFFORD.
