I've looked on Ancestry using both his name and service number from the medal card you attached.  There are no records for him.

I have no evidence that the Herolds were originally Hirrels.  I've never heard anything like this before.  The man who was killed in the barn was John Wilkes Booth.  The events are very famous here and there is lots on information on the internet.  I've never come across any link to Ireland and I've researched this quite extensively.

I've found him buried in Florida.  He is the cemetery at st Margaret Church in Hibernia (Jacksonville) Florida.

Only other information is that he's a miner aged 24 holding a through ticket to Saltash.

Theres also an Henry Truan on the same ship (miner, age 29 through ticket to Penzance).

I don't think he was called she - I think its the way the doctor wrote a capital H - without the bar across the middle of the H.
