Alfred was born faversham Kent. but in the 1851 Alfred is living preston next to faversham and was born Canterbury. according to another list there is no sign of Alfred bapt c 1806 in the index. if any one has a spare Alfred and a bapt it would be great to hear from you.or if any one requires more info i am sure i can help.

Hi Mike,

Welcome to Rootschat

Here's the 1851 census entry for Alfred in Preston, as I'm not sure from your posting whether you have these details or not:
ref HO107 1626b folio 258 page 15: Brent Town, Preston next Faversham
Alfred Covenay head mar age 45 labourer in cement factory born Canterbury
Phoebe do wife mar age 42 born Luddenham
Lucy do dau age 9 born Preston
Solomon do son age 7 born do
Albert do son age 4 born do
Elias do son age 9 months born do

and from the 1841 census:
ref HO107 475-08 folio 24 page 7: Brent Town, Preston
Alfred Coveney age 30 shoemaker
Phoebe do age 30
William do age 14
Alfred do age 13
Rose do age 10
Elizabeth do age 9
Emma do age 5
Lucy do age 2
all born in county

Sorry I can't help with details of a baptism for Alfred, but the IGI has christening details for Rosa and Elizabeth, daughters of Alfred Coveney and Phoebe French, which may help a little in your search.

Hi Mike,

Your Alfred Coveney was not christened at Faversham, Preston-next-Faversham, Ospringe, Throwley, Sheldwich, or Leaveland.  So you might want to turn your attention to the Canterbury parishes for his christening.

However, he did marry Phoebe FRENCH at Faversham (found in parish register, Bishop's and Archdeacon's) on 9 June 1827.  Witness to the marriage was William Harrison.

Phoebe French was not christened at the above parishes either, and may well be at Luddenham, as the census suggests.

Would like to have been of more help.

Best wishes,
Susan
