Attempting to trace details of Fathers service history from 1911 in India & then from 1915 in Mesopotamia.Name John Herbert Wood.Service Number P11196.
 Any information gratefully received

            thanks for the info.Can confirm you were correct about Dad being in Military Police from a copy of his discharge cert.dated 15/12/19  .Excuse my ignorance but I am an "oldie" new to this game.Please tell me what is MIC &  how did you arrive at the info.Cheers,Slinger

          Thanks for your help,unfortunately person on medal card was not Dad, but would be interested in knowing where I should look to solve the mystery of a missing  King George V Coronation Medal for which my Father had a ribbon but no "gong".At this time he would have been serving in India & may have been present at the Delhi Durbar.
I am new at this game "ancient but trying"so wish me luck.

Some info about the medal! - I wonder if he was there - guarding something maybe? but you mentioned the Delhi Durbar  ..... but the Delhi Durbar was Edward V11 ......... !! you may possibly get a clue from the medal card !

Here's something about the Delhi Durbar .... !

On New year's day 1903, Edward the VII was declared Emperor of India. The occasion was marked by a grand ceremony held at the Delhi Durbar - a spectacular and elaborate festival organised by the British government. The Durbar was intended to highlight the supposed glory of the monarchy and its Empire. The festivities involved an enormous procession which included a line of Indian princes riding on jewelled elephants.
