Have you looked at the 1851 census for Kells?

http://www.dumgal.gov.uk/historicalindexes/census.aspx

Robert and  Jean and parents Alexander and Janet are there.

Many thanks for your reply.   Do you know where I could find out any further info on this family, in particular Robert's death from Anthrax poisoning, would a local paper have any records of this?

Hi Irene

There may well be a record, though it might just be a notice of death. I'm not sure which newspaper would have it though, not being a native of those parts. Do you have the exact date? I have someone who looked up something in a paper for me recently and seemed keen to help again, so could ask him, but it would be better with an exact date...

Hi

Have found the following on IGI :

25/10/1824 - Minnie Wabster born, daughter of Alexander Wabster/Jannet Spark @ Minnigaff, Kirkcudbright...to be considered perhaps despite mis-spelling of surname

02/04/1827 - Helen Webster christened, daughter of Alexander Webster/Janet Sparks @ Kells, Kirkcudbright.

I also found Robert Webster in the 1881 census @ Airds Farm House, Kells, Kirkcudbright :

Robert Webster - Head - Unmarried - 50 years - M - Farmer of 800 acres, 70 arable employing 2 men, 2 girls and 1 boy - born @ Kells
