Looking for links to the Simpson family who lived at Crosby Ravensworth nr Shap in the early 1800s.

Especially Dorothy Simpson born abt 1821.

It matches up with info on the 1841 Census, and the IGI for a birth.

Assistance Required.

Working from the Census 1851:-

Robert BUTTERWORTH B Rochdale aged 36 b abt 1814
Dorothy Butterworth nee Simpson b Oct 1819 Crosby Ravensworth

I have searched marriages JFM 1838 to JFM 1843

First child was born c 1841

I cannot find a marriage, any ideas ?

They where in Rochdale in 1851 with 9 kids ?

hi dave  there was until quite recently a family run garage in shap they also sold petrol, there was two garages one at the kendal end of the village and on the left hand side as you came from kendal, at the bottom of the village this is where the simpson garage was, it was on the right side as you come fro kendal,  as far as i know there is still some of them in shap.  i know the village very well as my wife was born there and we call about two to three times a year to check the family grave.   this may help as they could be related, i will be there round about the 15th of may but possibly before as well. plum
