1871 Census for Thomas Joseph Ashley

I think it is the same Thomas that Willow listed it is whether or not he had 2 wifes.

As the 1861 census was taken before Dec and Thomas was a widower then he either did (as you say) or where do you think he may have married the 1st.

Ok i have found this on BMD
Thomas Joseph Ashley Married Eugine justina Maria Chatlyn at St geo Hanover Sq Jun Q 1854 and there is a death of Eugine Justina Maria Ashley at Tavistock Mar Q 1859

I notice looking on the IGI there are no Chatlyn in the Uk but there is a few in Oostende, Belgium !!! so it looks like she would of be a Belgian

There you go Ian that is more than likely why there are no children known to you
unless of course Eugine died in or after child birth.

no wonder i was banging my head against a brick wall with this family, its only the census records which have put it into place via your hard work

I can not find Thomas going backwards though on the 1851/41.

I was thanking both of you.....
Now then i too lose them before 1861 and all i know he is from Kings Cliffe, but i cant find his parents, so it will be the Marriage cert i will have to get as he was born before 1837, so that will give me his fathers name.
But this guy did move so much he could be any where as by 1853 he would be 20 well he was in London in 1854 as he married ! hunch that he is London.
